Incredible old Battersby. I have one from the 1950s, the logo is similar. There is a book about the history of Battersby Hats, Stefan has one. I think you can find it online.Finally found Homburg Nation again, which is good because I have quite a few to show thanks mainly to Stefan and Daniel. I'll start though with this Battersby I picked up yesterday at a huge indoor flea market in Copenhagen. The concensus on the New Hat Forum is that it is indeed a homburg. It does have a very wide brim at 7cm, and it is quite soft and maleable. The brim can be flipped down, but it doesn't look good as a Fedora.
After some tlc it looks better than it was, but still needs more tlc (don't we all [emoji4]). My hunch is it's 1910s-20s.

Thanks, Red. I have the book. It's mainly about the family, but has some great photos and archive material, too. The logo was a standard one for Battersby, but several things about this hat suggest to me that it's pre war and not 30s pre war. Whatever decade it's from, I'm glad I came across it.

This is the Lobbia Borsalino Qualità Suprema that Daniele posted a couple of weeks ago (late 40s, possibly very early 50s). It arrived Monday and after 24 hours on the stretcher, it was ready to wear today. Brim 7cm (2.75 inches), Crown 11cm (4.3 inches), ribbon 4cm (1.5) I have 3 other Homburgs with an equally wide brim and around the same crown size. I beleive this one seems "larger" due to it's colour in light perspective, but also due to the way the brim seems elongated along the sides.
A big thank you to Daniele for knowing my tastes and giving me the opportunity to bring this Borsalino into my possession and onto my head.

Saks homburg (of sorts). Size 7 with the brim at 4,5cm an the crown 11cm in front. This may actually be more like the original homburg with its pronounced taper and very narrow brim, but it feels 'costumy' to me. Not like what we've come to expect from homburgs these days. I added the brim curve, which improves it somewhat. Very well made hat though and it's a great colour. The label looks exactly like the ones on my Knox hats, so they might be the maker. As soon as the next 19th century costume drama gets made I'll be ready for it.

Sometimes you come across a hatbrand you've never seen before but it still ticks all the boxes. Here's one of those. I'm even unsure about the brand. Burghausen styled by City Club. German made (I think) in a great colour colour combination. Size 57 (damn) with the brim at 6cm and the crown 11cm at the pinch. Nice hand to the felt and it shapes easily. That's all I can say about it really.
Battersby Special Quality homburg in black. Size 57, with the brim at 6,5cm and the crown 11cm at the pinch. Just a wonderful homburg and I wish I would fit me. Sold in Sweden.
