Certainly- its a Stetson No.1 Quality, I am led to believe from the 40s. The sweatband tore off and I recently had a new one put in by Bob Jessee at black sheep hat works. Now it fits even better than it did!

Excellent hat and growler price. Hey that is a great growler handle! I am looking this evening for growler handles on the web. It is only the past 12 months or so that I have been a growler purchaser. The local special breweries have soooo many fine and interesting short run offerings. I think it must be a deliberate business decision to get folks like me to pick a growler of this "special beer." A growler give me "too" much beer for one guy, so that the outcome is that I have more guests coming over to sample. This micro-brewery decision has been both good and bad for my household. Anyhoooo, great hat, handle and growler. Best, Eric -

Laws vary by state of course, but here the only requirements are the retailer has to be licensed to sell carry out (most bars are not; just microbreweries & some liquor stores) & the growler must stay sealed until you get home. They have printed up seals that go around the bail & even have hang tags that identify the contents, but for us "old hands" my favorite barkeep just uses black electrical tape & saves the seal & tag.

Here they can fill any growler; some states only allow the retailer to refill his own growler. I have a stainless steel growler with a bigger mouth/screw in cap but it doesn't seem to keep as long, probably because of the cap. I find beer will keep up to a wk unopened & abt 2 days after opening before going flat. Heavy nitrogenous beers like Stouts & Pilsners won't keep as long.

The $5 fills are specials, normal price is $10. I get an email or a text when they're offering it. The local liquor store has 7 tap-heads & fills growlers. Their price is $12 & up depending on the brew. Best time to add an additional growler to your "collection" is during the Christmas holiday season when they run specials on new growlers with a first fill. They know the more growlers they get out there brings potential for more business.

Of course the obvious question - What is the the review of the Wood Hat Montgomery County aperitif? The pics have me tasting it over the internet.

Smooth. Beautiful color. I prefer to drink my whiskey neat but most bourbons can benefit from a few ice chips; no mixers ever. I have a bottle of his Double Wood Bourbon which I have not tried yet.

Probably won't try his cordials. You might like his Berry Berry Cordial & Bob might like his Persimmon Cordial or his Black Walnut Liqueur.

So far my favorite from Wood Hat Spirits is his Aged Blue Corn Whiskey over the Aged All American (Red, White & Blue Corn), but I haven't tried the Red Corn yet.

Quality spirits, one & all though.

Thanks for the review Jack. Curious about the bourbon. I did try a small glass of Blanton's Single Barrel Bourbon last weekend at a friends. I did not enjoy at the first sip, but it grew on me.
