Thanks Steve. My shopping has been going downhill lately, but there are still some good days.

Thanks Stefan. I'm pretty happy with it.

Both great looks, but the Bird is the Word.

I like that hard felt and soft felt combo. But I think your Reefer is from a 1974 contract.

Thanks all,
Michael
Thanks Michael!
I was confused a bit about the dating from what seemed to be conflicting information. First it was said it was a pre '80 coat, but in a following post it was stated that the Kersey wool coats were discontinued in '79 in favor of Melton wool ones like this. Since I wasn' t sure, I went with the later date. Worked better with the joke. :)

I don't know, the 70s should be good for some jokes too. I don't remember all of the specifics of the label you showed, but the 2 digit number after the DSA100 should be the year the contract was let, the C means contract was the type of instrument. So with your label the contract was let in 1974 and the jacket was made sometime after that. I think it wasn't unusual for items to be available in two fabrics simultaneously, especially around the times of transitions in the specifications.

OK, that makes more sense to me. I didn't knowvthat the gov't made uniform transitions like this over time. I had just assumed that once they changed, all the old stuff just got sold as surplus or stuck in the one of those warehouse that they put the Ark and the Crystal Skull in.

Back under the new Sixteen Fifty for now. I gave it a bit of a steam and brush this morning.

Have a great Friday,

I love the jacket. I am a sucker for green. Nice hat. Is it a Stetson?

I tried to stay away from temptations, but the other day we were, Steve and I, in Merano by the current owners of the hats sold in the shop (now closed) "M. Hutter".

I did not bring enough money to buy hats, but then I suddenly became a sinner

"Uranio" Borsalino Extra Superior Quality. Size 6 1/2

The shapes and proportions are related to Italian hats made in the sixties

Felt is soft and very malleable. What I particularly like is the tone-on-tone ribbon that is, for me, the plus of this Borsalino

Happy Friday everyone
See you in the next days for the next sins
Very nice hat, Daniele. Let he who is without sin pass on a beautiful chapeau!

Thanks D. It's a Dobbs Sixteen Fifty from the latter half of the 1940s that I just acquired. The coat is a Lands' End Charter Collection model in some Austrian Loden cloth. I think Lands' End used that label for only a couple of years in the 80s for a try at some higher end market.

You were looking superb under the Eleganza yesterday. Great outfit paired with it.

Thanks,
Michael
