It'll be a laugh on the day, though I don't envy Denny and co having to organise everything, as there's a lot of stuff.

Thx for the suggestions, fellas!

My chief concern is striking the "complimentary yet subtle" balance. And so I'm also considering just going for a plain or at least not plaid option.

Also, @Sloan1874 thx for the remarks about your experience with the hide and top coat. Exactly what I was hoping to hear :)

I like the color: brought myself a jacket in this color about 10 or 12 years ago a lamb skin Dolice Gabbanna only wear it for dress occasions were the leather does not get dirty still looking OK
Could you post sometime a picture of your Dolce & Gabbana leather jacket ? Thank you

Did anyone here ever order a natural Vicenza? I’m trying to research and find pictures of aged examples but are coming up short. I’m seriously considering a jacket in natural but without having an idea how it will age, it’s hard to make a decision.

If anyone owns a jacket that has seen some serious wear, I’d be very grateful for photos.

Thanks Peter! Although it’s not what I’m looking for. Only the first picture is an aero jacket, and I don’t think it’s been worn at all.

What I’m getting at is that we all know what to expect from MF campus jacket for instance, the evolution process is well documented. But I haven’t found anything similar for aero’s natural hide. And since this hide is prepared with wax and oil in a way that makes it less susceptible to wear than many other natural leathers, you would expect a different evolution, probably less dramatic. Anyways, for me the big pull factor in a natural hide is just that the patina of the jacket is always develop ingredients . But without having an idea on what to expect, makes it hard to make a decision.

There have been quite a few natural aero’s going out through Thurston. Surely someone who peruses these forums must’ve been the recipient of one of these jackets?

It is my understanding that thw Vicenza will darken a bit, but not nearly as much as the campus jacket.
I think the first shot is about it AFAIK.

The first photo was one I took at the Aero factory at the end of 2016.

The jacket had been on display, and had darkened up from sun exposure. It hadn't been worn much. I don't know how much more brown it'd get.

If you're worried about the lightness of the color, you could always "darken" it with seal Vicenza highlights. Two-tone jackets are cool.

I got this one. I will let you know how it goes. I would not get this jacket normally, however after I tried it on I was surprised how it sat with me. Went back three days after trying on the jacket and shelled out the hard earned. Three week on I wore it in a local shopping centre and was asked three times where I got the jacket and were there more like it available.
Long way from my old Brando jacket of 35 years ago.

I like natural leather and somehow I like the idea of having a jacket with it.

I'm thinking of an Aero Type III in natural Vicenza (I don't think there is the Type III in CXL) or a Wayfarer.

Although I could imagine that the CXL suits the Wayfarer style better.

I'm just not sure if the natural leather suits me. both in terms of style and the fact that I am not particularly careful with my things.

This Type III in nat Vic looks a bit ... hm ... "cowboy" like. And I don't live in California or Texas lol
Still, it kind of appeals to me.

I haven't found really good pictures of aged nat Vic. Only those more honey-colored.

What do you think?

I think the trucker looks great in natural leather! I’ve long thought about having one done for myself, but I don’t really have the funds for an Aero purchase at this time or in the near future. But I absolutely love their type 3, I haven’t tried it on myself but just judging by pictures it’s the nicest one I’ve seen.

Afaik the natural Vicenza has some sort of top coat or something that slows down the aging process of the leather. I think that’s why we never see any natural Vicenza that has gone really dark. I do know that Aero also has natural Italian horsehide (not available on their website, but you can ask about it) that will age much more dramatically, if that’s what you’re after.

How does this one look now after two years?

Go for it MrProper!
I own an Aero type III and I think they have done a great job with this pattern. I also think that the Vicenza leather is perfect for this style because it drapes well and its is as comfortable as if it were a denim jacket.
If you did have your heart set on CXL though I think you might be able to order one this way, it seems to me that someone here did this recently (can’t remember who though).

Unfortunately no CX with the Type 3.
I asked Holly about it.
I.e. either natural Vicenza or another model where CX is possible. Although I really like the Vicenza, I find the color of the natural CX more interesting. Well, let's see.
Thanks everyone for your answers.
