I know that Diamond Cap Company crushers are undoubtedly the best replicas but they're rather expensive for something I just want to wear when taking a WW2 jeep to a show and which will probably get wet. I have several original visors I can wear in less rough conditions.
There are a lot of junk repro caps around, please could I have some opinions on which are the "best of the rest" ?
I'm on the right of the pic (click to enlarge) wearing an eBay Chinese fur felt visor hat that I've uprated with a proper mohair band and an original chin strap and emblem. This isn't too bad but I wonder if there's anything better available short of a Diamond.
My friend on the left is wearing an eBay Chinese "Kuomintang" cap that he's modified using a British Army Khaki tie for the band.

Hello Old Fogey,

Why not check us out? We make tailor made reproduction crusher caps, both officers and enlisted, and they are half the price as other dealers. Our website is: www.wwiiflightwear.com. Quality is excellent, our caps are completely made in the USA from patterns taken from original WWII crusher caps, and we ship worldwide. Also, on the officers caps we use original WWII era cap badges and mohair braid straight from a 1942 dated roll. You won't find that offered anywhere else!

Yep, Society is HIGHLY reccomended by me. I have one of their Crushers and it's beautiful and was less than half of Diamond's. Actually, way less than half. Really a great buy.

I have been checking you out. I have emailed your address at the web page, but no reply. Your hats look great, but I want to know if you will make me one of the Khaki versions with a dark visor/leather like this...

Based on this thread, I learned of Society Brand and ordered a repro crusher. I wanted a khaki/summer cap with the standard issue (flexible) visor as opposed to the "Flighter" type bill, in the dark brown. Today I got the pics of my cap which will arrive in the mail soon. I thought I would share. I think it looks just right:

I want one just like this, but I don't know what Ray means about the differences between the two types of bills. Society, is your website down at present?

Get it wet, a few shows of that and it'll form the way it's supposed to, the caps were made to take a beating, headphones, squish up and stick in your pocket. In my opinion get the best you can find and wear it to hell and back like a true Crusher.
