The current pope's ring is a nice piece - as I recall, it's in silver because he wanted something less costly, more humble.
Discovered today that Rumble 59 have stopped making the stainless TCB Elvis ring, and no loner have sotck in my size. Bummer, as I'd planned on using one of those as a wedding ring. Got to decide between several alternatives now (as I'm donig it on the cheap, I'm almost tempted to see if I can get away with more than one ring!).

Any ring is a very personal decision. I bought this ring when I visited Malta. A Maltese cross. Not only is it a reminder of that trip, but it also captures my love of history and my misplaced streak of romanticism. Usually I reserve it for when I'm really dressing up (as in formal wear). I've only received one comment and that, strangely enough, was "do you belong to a secret society?" (Um, no.)

I know a lot of guys feel that way; me, I like a bit of fussiness. It's interesting that, for a lot of men, there are cultural norms that dictate you shouldn't wear jewellery just because it's cool / fun / you like it, but It Should Have a Meaning, like a wedding ring, which also seems to work on the assumption that a man will wear the same rings all the time. I have a couple that are worn almost daily (and one which was a 40th present from my other half, which I do wear absolutely daily), but I also have several more which are worn on a whim, or occasionally, or depending on where I'm going or what else I'm wearing. In that regard, I treat them like cufflinks or watches.

My lady had a Claddagh set; her engagement ring is the crown, and the hands/heart part is a separate piece which will be her wedding ring in due course. Both in silver as she does not like and won't wear gold; the stones in the crown are rubies and sapphires (our birthstones) as we're not fans of the diamond trade. I considered one for myself as I'm the Irish in the relationship, but instead I'm opting for a wedding ring based around the Elvis TCB lightning flash. Had my eye on a stainless steel design but that went out of production, so I'll probably end up going silver too.
