I am in the US, and plan to purchase a pair of boots from Viberg. Has anyone in the US who has purchased directly from them in Canada been hit with import duties?

Another option I'm considering is ordering locally via one of their official dealers.

Any input would be welcomed.

I don't think you need to pay import duty if goods is below $800, which I think most Vibergs are unless you want to purchase a shell cordovan model.
I didn't order directly from Viberg but I did order 2 pairs from Brooklyn Clothing in Calgary and Lost&Found in Toronto last year. Delivered by UPS to Mass and no import duties.

Thank you for the response. You must be looking over my shoulder because shell cordovan boots is what I plan to order! Since they're over $1000 I don't know what type of duty (if any) to expect.

You should go on https://www.reddit.com/r/goodyearwelt/ and ask in the common question thread that is posted daily in the morning. Don't know about here on FDL but quite a few posters on that subreddit has bought Viberg shell and are from the US. There is also a new thread of someone getting a pair of black shell Viberg on the frontpage. You can ask him/her also.

I just got my pair of Stone Waxed Kudu but there was no duty as they were under 800. Really happy with these as I've been looking to get another pair of Viberg service boots since I sold off my crust horsehide pair (hated the dainite soles + unstructured toe + lack of lining). The ridgeway sole is pretty comfy, only took it out for a little bit to take out my trash but on the rainy/wet surface I didn't get any slippage. Really nice color too, I was afraid it was going to be too similar to my Earth chamois Indy but it's got more of brown tinge to it... maybe even a little bit of dark olive. I do wish they were a bit taller, but comparing them to my Indy boots they're actually about the same height.

Not exclusively related to Viberg, but has anyone tried the corded sole boondockers and if so, how is the sole?

Thank you!
No problem. If you are committed you better buy fast. A preordered Viberg shell model was posted on their website at $1250 before tax a few months ago. Viberg has always kept their shell model at $1090 all these years so this might signal a price increase in the future.

I’m on it.
The responses I saw in Reddit point to no duties since the boots are shipping from Canada to the US. Let’s see how it goes.

Fast forward to today. We now have YouTube and all of the content creators. You have to set your own filters for bias. Some videos are sponsored by the manufacturer. Some videos are produced by content creators who collaborate with the manufacturer. Some videos have a link to click, so that when you buy, the content creator gets a commission on the sale.
