Lewis Leathers - Which size fits me better?

Hi folks I need opinions on fit.

I can wear the same jacket in two sizes. 40 or 42. Which fits me better? (I don't ride bikes - just for fashion)

I know the 40 is too short: ignore that. Lewis will make me a new jacket and lengthen the sleeves and the hem. But which one looks better around the body?

The 40 is tighter and I’m thinking I should get it in black. Black is a slimming colour and tighter looks better. However I will not be able to layer up under it - T-shirt only.

However if I get one in a colour (red)? I’m thinking it might not look as good in a tight fit as black.

What do you think? Both jackets are in both videos, 40 comes first followed by 42.

I can't decide. Or maybe... I like the one in the first video, one filmed inside the store, better. But they both fit great!

There are two jackets in each video! The 40 comes first in each, followed by the 42.

My mistake. I rushed through the video, thinking one is of the 40 and the other one of the 42.

Okay, my vote goes for the 42. First video, second jacket.

Definitely the 42. Beautiful jacket and it looks great on you, but the 40 is just a little bit too short in the sleeves and the jacket length. If you get the 40 you can't put on an extra ounce...ever.

The 42 is a more versatile fit... so I think that is the one. Would be best if you can make it on Saturday, then you will have 5 pair of eyes directly checking the fit

Edit: and we will need your opinion as well!

As I say, they can make me one which is lengthened in the sleeves and jacket length. So ignore those two aspects

Still the 42. The 40 is just a bit too snug. You don't look as comfortable. You gotta look like you and the jacket have been buddies for a long time.

40 looks like a saussage casing to me. It's japanese fit tight, i am not a fan.
42 looks like am almost perfect fit, i would add 1" to the body and leave the sleeves as is.

For me the 42 would be the better fit, but are you set on this style? It is a hardcore motorcycle jacket. Perhaps a more casual style would be better for street wear? I am a long time rider and this is a style I would wear only when riding, not for casual street wear. But then we are all a bit different in our approaches.

42 in my opinion. I would add a hair to the body length - 3/4” maybe. Looks a hair short in the front. Sleeves look good.

The style looks good on you.

42! I am not a fan of the very tight fit jacket, unless you really want the very trendy look (which may only last for 1-2 more years until the fashion switches back to loss fits).

Yeah, the 42.

I went through the classic vintage-leather-fan thing of getting too excited about 'proper fit' and buying everything too tight, I mean Luftwaffe boy tight, to begin with - in the end. it's neither a good look, nor a historically accurate one. And, hell, even Joey Ramone bought jackets that actually fit him as soon as he could afford it...

As a rule of thumb, I like my leather jackets to fit over a shirt or thin sweater (anything you'd wear under a blazer, basically), but if it only fits over a t-shirt, it's a shirt not a jacket!

I find the racing collar makes this jacket look much more casual for streetwear than the older 50s style m/c jackets. Plus if I got it in a colour... blue or red... goes nicely with blue jeans etc.
