Hi gang, just bought myself a Johnson Leathers jacket that the seller claims was made in the 80's. It's due to arrive later this week. Anyone familiar with their quality? I took a chance on this one because the pics looked great and I'm hopeful regarding sizing. Any one aware their sizing? do they run true to size...are they big...small? I have an Aero that is a 42 but it feels more like a 43/44. So I know jacket can vary in sizing as well as quality. Thanks in advance for your input!! I'll share pics when I get it!

I have three, purchased over an 18, maybe 20, year time span. An insulated cowhide, a casual goatskin, and a wool-lined horsehide. Each is a different style, but all three are size 44 and all three fit to size.

I have just the one Johnson about 10 years old and it fits true to size and the horsehide and workmanship are both stellar.

I've only had one Johnson Leathers jacket and I felt it ran large. I'm 5'11 around 210lbs and this was a nice fit in a size 40"

As far as craftsmanship and material goes...absolutely top tier.

Only have one jacket from Johnson leathers and it was made to order so I can’t speak to their sizing, but the quality is great. Definitely a top notch maker.

I owned two Johnson leathers. I thought both were large 44s, but very nice jackets. Just talking fit. I've been very tempted on ebay. I've seen some nice Johnson jackets really well priced. Typically a great jacket at a better price. If I was going to buy one I would buy a 42 not a 44. I notice many folks say they fit true.

I have had 3 made for me in the past 6 years. Beautiful work. I would have many of them if I lived in the States. The quality is excellent and Alan is great to work with.

Just maybe check the shoulder width. My size medium work jacket and a 44 cafe racer have 21 inch wide shoulders. Another size 44 had 22 inches but I asked for a slightly wider size so that's on me. I think 18.5-19 inches might be better for slim guys in a 44 or 42. I think they run a touch large in some patterns but it is important never to buy by size. You should buy by your actual measurements, which may mean you are a 40 to a 44 depending on the pattern and maker.
