As above .... Eastman B3 all day for me as well..... and the new Patton B3 looks awesome
Wait until you meet someone wearing the same jacket(Patton), I guess that would be down to whom is the best lookalike then :p

I saw no difference in quality when was choosing between Aero and Eastman, but the prices were very different, Eastman was (and is) more expensive. Since I was looking for specific colour set (which Eastman didn't make), I opted for an Aero. Eastman source their sheepskin from North America (it's stated on the website), Aero from England. To be more precise the company they get the sheepskin has a tannary in England. That I was told by Aero since they don't mention on their website where they get the sheepskin from. Another factor is the authenticity. Eastman, it's said, are more correct. When I was looking for my B3 I also heard thar RMNZ was the best. My B3 is attached.
I bought an Eastman Roughwear as I had not seen an Aero B3 at the time, also Aero were not producing the redskin style at that time I believe(15 years plus) Having seen an Aero redskin recently they are pretty well compared. I would have bought it but the sale jacket was not in my size.

The picture below is a pretty good example of the colour redskin jackets are, slightly darker to Eastmans from years ago. Is that an Eastman or Aero?

Hello - I have an Eastman "redskin" two piece back B-3 that I really like and a seal brown Aero B-3 (contract No. 40-1721P) that is REALLY heavy duty and also a two-piece back. The Aero reminds me of a Real McCoy B-3 I owned about 10 years ago that was probably the best constructed of all of them. I'll probably be the only one here but for me the Aero is KING !!

Here is my Eastman when it was newer.

Please show the label,
thanks.
cheers
I take it that request is directed at my jacket but I don't have a photo loaded of the label. So, to save time, and it is exactly the same as my jackets label;

Here's the link to Eastman's Roughwear B3 page

http://www.eastmanleather.com/type-rough-wear-contract-17756-p-160.html

The only real difference in the jacket is the surface finish looks more realistically like WWII on the new jacket and the Talon zipper has been replaced by a Crown.

A personal modification was to sew the rank tabs down on the shoulder so the jacket looked neater (in my opinion anyway)

I'm glad to see this thread still alive and well, as Am I...long time have I been away.

I have some B-3's I might soon be listing for sale, depends.

I really want to pull the trigger with the Eastman Mixed batch Jacket...You know I do.

I have dozens of flight Jackets, maybe If I can bite the bullet and sell a dozen or so, I can pull the scratch together for something substantial that I'm going to be living in from here on in, as I will no longer be able to afford heat or rent...At least an Eastman B-3 will be my lived in home eh?

I'm gonna have to lead with 3 rads and give it the whole nine yards.

HI Art, that photo was taken probably when the jacket was fairly new around 15 years ago(it's a 42'). Today it looks a little different but only as in wear.
Most or the points where the jacket rubs have now worn through to the actual hide, thats not drastic though as it now looks a little more like a WWII jacket. The dead giveaway to a WWII is that it is cleaner and could never pass as an original due to that point. Not quite 'worthless' but nowhere near the cost of a 1/3 of a new one.
They often come up for sale in the usual sites, more often tagged with 'Immaculate' 'Still looks new' 'As New', 'perfect, 'very little wear'. Rarely will you see one described as 'Worn regularly so it's not immaculate but still a good jacket' haha.
I don't wear it that often now, mainly lounging about the house, building snowmen for the grandchildren, probably nothing to do with any kind of reenacting. I had thought about selling but where would I get something else? And to be honest, why would you sell then get something similar.
Hoping you find something decent, both Aero and Eastman make decent jackets but Eastman do appear to up their prices on a regular basis.
Seeya, JT.

Here are a couple of photo's of mine taken within the last couple of years and it has probably got more worn, and more comfortable. If fact, I am going to put it on now, lay on the settee and watch TV without putting the heating up. Bliss :)
