where is a good place to start?

to begin the adventure, how do I start?

my thought is at the bottom (shoes & slacks) and for the upcoming season (spring).

anything inherently wrong with this plan?

Start at the beginning, that way you will know when you reach the end. But for what it's worth, I start every morning with a trip to the bathroom, once relieved I step into the shower, then shave. What I will wear depends on the trousers that I choose for today. A shirt will contrast with my pants, as will the socks that I select. Then shoes and outerwear, everything is planned to be presentable. I never just throw any old thing on.

Hmm. Like @GHT, my attire is usually thought out while I shower. However, I always start with the shirt. The shirt will then determine the trousers, belt, socks, shoes, etc. I then choose my jacket and hat to complete the look. Even when I'm dressed casually (which is most of the time these days), everything is planned and coordinated.
