Hellcat G-1

Looking at several bargain priced G-1's, and this jacket just popped up on the radar. The jacket is USA made, which is important to me (and my wife).

Has anyone here ever had jackets from this manufacturer? I actually do not know who makes it, just that is is offered by both Legendary USA, and Ace Jackets. It is on sale for a paltry $369, with free shipping. And they have a good return policy (30 days) as well.

My just delivered Cockpit USA Mil Spec Navy G-1 is going back. The jacket is very nice, but a bit large through the waist, and it has a strong chemical odor. Maybe from the dyes/tanning process?

Thanks in advance for your help!

Hey Tex,

I’ve seen these before on the web. If you Google them, they claim to be the Official G-1 of the Blue Angels. Looking at the pics, if the claim isn’t true, they certainly get extra points for having some convincing fake pictures! :)

Personally, I would not be surprised. The Blues get all kind of custom merch and matching custom jackets would certainly be par for the course.

On the other hand, if you look at the pics you’re probably going to see the same wide bodied G-1 that is the state of the art for G-1s these days. Frumpy, baggy and wide. Which by itself probably goes a long way to show that even the Navy doesn’t know anymore how good looking a G-1 can be when in its most flattering form.

Yes, the G-1 can look very flattering, or it can make you ask...”What was he thinking?”
Like so many of the airline pilot uniform jackets I see being worn, they all fit worse than a sack of flour.

I did notice those photos were par for the course, with a rather loose / blousy fit on those guys.

That Hellcat was only on sale for one day...back to to regular price now. But I ordered a G&B Navy G-1. Spoke with Jenna and got the measurements. Downsized to a 38R. Hope it fits!

I have their Civil A-2, in a 42R. It’s ok, but should have ordered a 40. The G-1 was ordered in a 40 based on my A-2 fit, but after my conversation with Jenna, and getting the actual measurements, decided a 38R should work.
Let’s hope it does! I’m an “off the rack” 40R. In most jackets, anyway.
