Crumple or Hang?

My problem is, I used to be extremely OCD about neatness and organizing but when I realized that I basically became a slave to those things, I tried to discipline myself not to care. Unfortunately, what happened then was that I've ended up on the other side of spectrum and I'm at the moment trying to find some kind of a middle ground. The secret is, I've discovered, in having less things.

Before, I wouldn't come near my apartment with the shoes on and I'd never sit on my bed in clothes I'd spend the day wearing.

Now my place is a mess, but it's a very clean mess. Except for the things the army drilled into me. Like making the bed each morning. Why in God's name am I still doing it, I've no clue... But I do.

I don't care for taking off my shoes at home anymore and yeah, I too never ask visitors to do the same. To be honest, I'd much rather they walk around with the shoes on than in stinking, moist socks. That's just... Ugh.

In any case, I never throw my jackets on the floor! They're on the sofa, chairs, table, bed, etc. but never on the floor.

Shoes off inside my house as well. I walk around in slippers.

I tried to wear shoes inside but I just can’t feel comfortable using the same footwear I used to walk in a public toilet and than in my kitchen, let alone on the carpet. Having a two year old around that literally eats off the floor sometimes is also a further push to take the shoes off.

And jackets in the closet, always.

In reality I tend to crumple during the day then hang at night, there would be more crumpling but my dogs won't allow it.

When I first saw the picture, my immediate thought was, "Far out Dav, ya gotta eat more, man!"

Jackets get hung up in the closets, once in a great while set over the back of a chair. I typically have shoes off in my house too, but with a lot of construction going on now, I usually wear a specific pair of older, clean tennis shoes around inside the house. I like things orderely, but don't always get to "neat" personally.

I guess I am all of the above. Lots of them make it to the closet. whatever is getting worn at the time usually makes it to the chair. I also leave some out deliberately on this play to set the mood for a room as you can see. And I have a headless mannequin that usually is adorned by a jacket that I am working on or that I am photographing to sell on eBay or here.

This is quite lovely actually and something I can abide by. My thing is why would you spend in upwards of $1k on something only to treat it with no respect. If I had a fistful of $100 bills I wouldn’t throw them on the ground until I needed them.

But all that aside...I keep my floors cleaned and polished. Rugs shampooed and clean. I don’t want any dog poop or gum from somebody’s mouth parading around on my floors. I will say I am maniacal about cleanliness. Probably to an unhealthy degree. I was raised by a Vietnam Vet marine. I tuck my sheets in tight, fold my garments squarely enough for a geometry lesson. Even my socks are stored with precision and care, according to temperature needs. Yet I don’t tuck in my shirt (when I don’t have to)...so that’s where the wheels come off.

Throwing things on the floor isn't necessarily throwing things on the floor. I'm not advocating throwing things on the floor to throw things on the floor. Putting certain items on the floor, in a closet, or on a shelf in a closet, or in a container on a shelf...not folded, so an implication of "crumpled up" because that is the best way to maintain, care for, and for the sake of longevity is quite different than littering the floor for other reasons. I wouldn't throw my jacket on the floor at a restaurant or in my entryway where everyone walks with their dirty shoes etc. Much, much different things.

Indeed! Or after sick people, usually men, are spitting their snot from colds and flu on the parking lot after they exit their car as they go into stores. And then walk through my house in those shoes? No thank you.

I brush my bed sheet and pillows every morning, made the bed, scrub my shower cabin after every use, wash my dishes after every meal, but taking my shoes off to walk barefoot or in my socks, I just never do that in my freewill, especially not in my socks it is so disgusting to absorb any dirt from the floor on my socks and then transfer that to the insole of my shoes.

sometime in friend's house I have to take off my shoes, or friends come and they take off their shoes although I tell them not to, so there is some flexibility but never in my socks, in my mom's place they have outdoor an indoor sandals thing, I never obey that, I just rub my shoes on their doormat vigorously on every doormat along my path, and walk on. I mean when you have animal pet who walk around after doing their thing in the cat litter box, sit on your lap with their butt, to certain degree you accept things get dirty and need to be cleaned frequently.

oh my motorcycle and my bicycle also get into my house with their dirty tires on, would be troublesome to take them off everytime

, the car sitting outside though. I mop the floor afterward if I see dirty trail left behind.

As with most things were such a peculiar breed. Some of my jackets are on large hangers in the closet. Some are on the floor. But not crumpled or in a mess. Just in a pile in a corner in my finished basement. But I have dress clothes that are wrinkled and crumpled. Ties strewn all over the place. But I’m s slave to my shaving ritual. My brush, shave soap, razors, afterhave tonic are taken care of the extreme. My jackets the same as I mentioned. My boots and moccasins will get treated if need be and put in safe places. My books on shelves. But the dress clothes the things that I need to find and keep in great shape I mess that up. Then for work or weddings or funerals etc... I’m running around claiming I can’t find something or how they are covered in dog hair. The things we do to ourselves.
