And a suit and tie! Looking good my friend.

I don’t think an entire pack of coyotes would be enough to tame a Chicago winter for this California boy.

The first time I went to Chicago in the winter was for my postgrad application interview.

When the airport automatic door to the street first opened, I ran back inside. I thought there was something wrong, because I simply could not believe how cold it was, and I was puzzled by the fact that passers-by exited normally. It really was hard for me to understand how it could be so cold. I couldn't even breathe.

When the cab driver told me it wasn't cold at all for that time of year, I hoped that one of the postgraduate programs I applied to in the southern US would take me.

No such luck. All five acceptances were in the north, but I still wish I would have picked Boston instead of Chicago. It would have been less cold, but I had a sweet heart in Chicago whom I later married and divorced.

Rightyouare, they do NOT make 'em like they used to!!
If I were a betting man, though, my guess is that sweet little lid is no earlier than 1960, more likely about from the late 60s, and possibly early 1970s. A $25 hat in 1950 was a very special piece, typically with a manufactured edge, or possibly a windcord.

Maybe others will weigh in, too...
Agreed. Style's all 60s/70s, too.

Here is a pic with my Stetson Derringer that I steamed and dropped in the front of the brim.

I thought @225sam and you were about the same age?

And this has nothing to due with getting in your good graces...what hat size are you again? ;)

I'm actually a younger guy haha. I'm 18 but i'm really into classic style; still trying to figure out how to either get my blog to take off or get a job where I can dress vintage

(ps. 7 1/2)

It's a GREAT hat!! You wear it well, (perfectly tilted, IMO) and you'll probably have it until you're my age, my friend! Thanks for posting, thanks for helping to hold it down with such a legit felt!!

What's your next color?!!
Thanks!!
As the Rat Pack once said "A hats not a hat unless it's tilted", too bad good quality hats are harder to come by these days, that one was a lucky find! I need to get myself a panama soon...

Somewhere in the '60s would have been my guess too, Charlie. It definitely sports that classy Mad Men look from the era

Feeling frumpy this morning, so chose a hat to match. This is a frumpy floppy woolie from hats in the belfry. It was a gift 9-10 years ago, and I don’t think I’ve really ever worn it out of the house. I am likely to change this hat in a few hours.
One thing I rather like about it is the double black over brown edging and ribbon. I think that’s a nice touch.

Charlie, this January I have really enjoyed the warmth & the National seashore of S. TX. I have played more golf this month then I did all of last yr.

Could you do something about the wind though?
