Back to Stetson 100s, even with the back and forth on the quality and value of the hats, if you can get your hands on one with stars in the liner crest and no plastic on the liner - almost certainly a ‘51 or ‘52 hat, those are completely different animals to the later “Stetson 7X with an expensive box” as the later versions of the 100 have been called.

Here are two Stetson 100s. On the left the earlier stats on the liner crest, pre-plastic model; one the right the maple leaf liner crest, plastic over the liner (my well-used, Goodwill find).

I’ve put three creases in them just quickly by hand, trying my best to put equal effort into each hat. The hat on the right still required a little more work, and you can see a different quality of moldability especially in the second example.

To earlier 100 felt is much more like butter, the later definitely a heavier clay as we’ve described the 7Xs.

Finishing up with the duality of the 100s theme, I like them both for different reasons!

Ummm... the listing states the liner was installed by the seller, and not original to the hat. I have been watching that one for a while. If it had the original liner, and were my size, I would have bought it.

P.S. I noticed it because I thought how could it be a 3X and a 100 at the same time? It makes no sense.

Shudde had a contract with Stetson to do renovations at one time.There is a thread here somewhere.My memory says that if they did a refurb there is a stamp inside the sweat.

A recent purchase. It’s just a little rough and worse it’s a size 7 1/4. I’ll be looking to move it on once it arrives...Saturday? If someone is interested hit me up. I’m also always interested in trades for 7 5/8 hats.

Stetson 100 on ebay not mine. I posting this hat for discussion. It looks like a pristine 50s one hundred to me. Price? seems rational considering the condition box and time period. speak up if I should not be posting live auctions. BIN $750

Live auctions seem to be touchy on some sides here. For sure the seller can look to post on the classifieds.

My opinion fwiw: I’d say this hat is ok, I think we’ve all seen it because there is no missing it! Especially the price. One similar just went on a $300 BIN (a little bit low, probably); maybe this seller will find a buyer, but probably not a Lounger at least while other 100s are still popping up for less.

Jon, that's a great looking hat. Live auctions are typically frowned upon but that hat has a BIN and anyone around here looking for a 100 is aware of the damn thing. $750 is off on this hat. I just checked and two of similar condition, with case recently sold on the bay for $300. One was a 1/8, the other a 1/4. I bought mine 2-3 yrs ago and they were expensive then but i paid much less that $750 for my 3/8. And what Alan said.
