The last one in a 7 1/2 for tonight is the Crean Dura Craft. Thus was well one. The sweat bank is attached but barely. I like the color.

labels from behind their sweatbands could bear clues.

I can confirm that Kensington was indeed a "discount" brand manufactured by Stetson. I know for certain that Kensington hats were manufactured at their Canadian factory in Brockville, Ontario, but at this time, I'm uncertain if they were also manufactured at their American plant in Philadelphia. I'm also uncertain about when they started the line, or if they bought it out from another company. Here are the facts though, when Stetson bought out the Wolthausen Hat Corp. in Ontario in 1935, the newspapers announced their plans to make 4 lines of hats at the Canadian factory: Stetson, Brock, Kensington and Horton. Kensington was planned to compete with "lower priced hats", specifically targeting the market held by Biltmore hats at the time (yes they were a cheap brand back then).

I have a Kensington straw that looks to be from the late 1950's/early 1960's, with a hole in it (so it's worthless), but that can help to confirm that the brand lasted at least until then. Judging by the size tag, this doesn't appear to be a Stetson-era Kensington though. No other markings under the sweatband.

Thanks very much for this information. I was able to find ads from the 1920's for the Brock hat. The Brocks I have fit 1 of 3 categories regarding labels/markings:
1. The label under band says WHC
2. The label says Woltausen Hat Corp
3. The lining describes the Hat as The Brock styled by Stetson.

I know from inquiries from the Brockville Museum that Wolthausen bought the factory in 1905.

Bump.

You may also want to check if you can post on the eBay US, rather than eBay.ca site. This I assume will get more views and search result appearances, although some of the other sellers on the site can be more specific with advice.

Good luck! Keep ‘me coming!

There are probably good mailing options between the US and Canada.

For other destinations in particular, eBay has an international shipping option where you the seller use domestic mail to send it to a DHL hub, then DHL sends it on internationally.

Maybe ask either Justin (Splintercellsz) for advice or even post here on the “Ask a question” thread. I am sure other sellers will help.

To be clear, right now when I search for the hat it does not show up, even when I use the “worldwide” option. When I click your user name, it comes up blank. I have to either use your direct link or search the eBay.ca site directly. It may be different for US users, but that is what I am getting.

Can anyone else help out?

It didn't give me that option that post on US site. I am trying to figure out this shipping thing. Re DHL ETC.

it has been a while since I last posted but I have finally started to sort out the cache of Fedoras that my wife obtained of buying a small costumers business in Saint John NB,Canada. I have attached a few pics. Some of the names I have and approximate quantities are Kensington(12) , Vanity(6), The Tower(4) , The King Hat(4) , Lewis Hat(9), The Brock(40)...seems this was a company bought and owned by Stetson at some point as Stetson appears on some of the hats. Pierto Fratelli(5), Borsalino(12), Stetson(5), St.Lawrence(6),Boulter (3), Biltmore(3), Derniere Nouveaute(4) and a few others. Most of these have never been worn. It appears as though the person we bought from purchased them from retailers that may have been closing. Most are felt but there are a number of fur as well. Would like to unload these but looking for ideas on how. Sizes range so far from 6-3/4 to 7-1/2. Colors vary as well
I am interested, but I don't know how to PM. Can you PM me please? Thanks! Dennis

THE LEWIS HAT FACTORY TRURO NOVA SCOTIA.
Apparently the factory started production in 1938. At its peak as many as 900 people worked there. You gotta love the blues...
Of the ten that I have 4 are 7,3/8, 2 at 7,1/4,2 at 7,1/8(including that navy blue fur) and 2 at 6,7/8. Two of these have these paper rings that came with them. All of these were never worn. Enjoy
I am Very interested in anything you have in size 7 please. Thank you.
