Buco J21.Can somebody confirm this assessment? It's on the way to me, looks like it needs a lot of TLC. Will post more pictures when it's in my hands

Hard to tell from the lighting used for the pictures. My jackets have the common black Buco cloth label. I’ve seen the label from your jacket before so could be Buco from specific era. Love to see more photos

You're a brave man buying something only seeing such poor quality pictures!
I hope it turns out well.

Can't help much with these pics, but i have had a quick look in my Rin Tanaka books, and it looks like it has the correct tag and lining for that era. According to the book it is very hard to differentiate a J-21 and a J-22.

The Buco J21 had only one pilion pocket at back side of the jacket.
J22/23/24 and J31 had 2 pilion pockets.
J21, was very V shaped, rounded epaulets, was lined with wool lining red checked or houndstooth.

+1

I just double checked looking at old adverts, the J-21 is described as having "four zipper pockets including a map pocket at the side of the jacket to protect maps on long trips". The J-22 is described as having "5 zipper pockets".

has lots of character no doubt, that red part on the right side of the back panel and if the belt just missing the tip like that seems like dry rot to me, maybe only dirt or other reason, just a quick assessment from that photo

The red on the back is just reflections on the leather. No damage there. I'm currently treating the leather with Dr. Jackson's Hide Rejuvenator. I'm going to add more Pecard Antique Leather dressing in thin layers until the leather doesn't feel dry anymore.
