Finally started work in Feb on restoring this 1920's Old Town canvas canoe I bought at a yard sale several yrs ago. This pic was taken the day I bought it.
Last yr I got a lead on this one & bought it. Still in need of restoration; maybe next winter.

I have an old kids Indian coloring book from the same era. It's like brand new & I picked it up for the good art work.
When I was growing up my grandmother had an old hardback book of color plates of various Indian tribes (she was Cherokee). I think it was an early book. I used to look thru that book by the hrs. I can't remember the name, I've looked online at rare book sites but haven't seen another one listed.

I visit a local Thrift Store almost every day-I have a cottage that I'm furnishing and outfitting, and I'm only getting the best stuff for it, buying at this store. Furniture, dishes, decorations-it's all from this one store, that draws its donations from an old, wealthy suburb. Here's a few things I've gotten recently.$35

here's another recent find: Oneida "Coronation" silverware. It's plated, but still nice. Why use cheap modern stuff when you can get something as nice as this for $7?

In the category of things I found but did not buy. (Maybe we should start a whole new thread for that. It might get REAL interesting.) 3-D lenticular toy poodle in light up brass filigree frame. I might have actually bought this, but the sellers were pretty proud of it. I snapped the pic for @BobHufford because our brains seem to work alike sometimes and I knew he could appreciate it.

"Coronation" silverware pattern came out in 1936, to celebrate the coronation of King Edward VIII, who ended up only reigning for a year or so, until he abdicated "to marry the woman I love". I happened to find this plate at the same store-one of the few commemorative plates to show him wearing the crown.

That's the nicest thing anyone has said about me in some time. Can't see the pic though Dale ... it's killing me. Just how proud were they of this poodle?
