Greetings All:
A recent purchase. I wanted a boot knife that clipped low and did not have a handle that went half way up my leg.
This fit the bill.
Khyber Stainless, 2751 Japan.
Sister company to Kabar who makes the exact same model except for more $$.
Nice little knife.
Be well. Bowen

I picked up these ‘Green River’ knives from a ‘car boot’ sale in Rotherham U.K. £1.00 each. The Dadley is Sheffield made Nowill) and the other is U.S. made by Russell. I’ve housed the Russell in a generic Sheffield made sheath with a steel and the Nowill in a Norwegian made embossed metal sheath.

Hey Rock:
I recall a couple of these at auction on the bay recently. Really wanted to get involved but they went high. I think this model is one of the nicest in this class knife. And Kershaw always impressed me.
Evidently you too. Ha
Funny how our interests have extended from hats and gems to knives! Still got boots and leather jackets you know. Lol
Sweet Trooper.
Be well. Bowen

These are nothing short of artwork!!
Probably the coolest sheaths i’ve ever seen. I’d be happy with just them...and some boots made from those hides.
B

Right, I just saw Robert in Tucson and gave him some curly mahogany to work his magic with. The sheaths are made by someone else, I’ll have to look for the maker. The black is of course gator, and the lighter brown reputed to be elephant. The other is guessed to be hippo (make a nice waterproof boot!)
To me the ‘Trooper’ is nicely finished and just a classic ‘toothpick’.
And it’s either work boots or slippers for me. (I had some leather pants late 60’s)
Cold Steel made a smaller version of the above tanto for a boot.
Check the Kershaw I posted in pocket knives thread.

I bought this knife in a local thrift store the other day and am somewhat intrigued by it.

I wonder if somebody can help me ID what it is, or perhaps rather what it was.

To me it looks like a WWII USN knife but I'm thinking that it has been modified after the war and turned into a hunting / camping / utility knife. I don't think that the leather sheath has always been with it. It has no markings and there is a metal belt clip on the back. Also, the leather, plastic (?) and brass washers look like they may have been replaced and, in fact, to my eyes, the whole grip seems to have been shortened.

As to the blade / tang, there are no markers marks, only a U S on one side and a solitary S on the other side.

I'd appreciate any help on this one. It is a nice knife with a nice patina to the blade and it has a nice thick leather sheath (which fits the blade like a glove) and the grip feels very comfortably in my hand. So, guys. An original or a modification?

I bought a display set of stone (agate flint?) arrow heads etc. from an ex soldier turned antique dealer who harvested them in North Africa (Sahara?). He said they were ubiquitous and easily spotted around old fire pits. You can pick up reproductions on Amazon but I’m pretty sure these are originals. The bronze arrow head in the centre came from another dealer source unknown.

Bought a copy of the book a while ago, haven't whittled yet as I'm considering what knife I should buy to go with the book. Seems wrong to use one I didn't specifically purchase for the task. Well, that's my excuse for buying another blade.
