Ana says she'll make me one in velvet.
Yeah, that'll make your patients feel more relaxed.

I sort of followed your advice and am asking Hufvud to make me a Zorro hat in beaver, Brent.

That last picture looks strangely familiar;)
From the looks of it the hat Guy Williams wears here has a higher crown than the traditional sombrero cordobes would have. He wears a few different ones in the series, which doesn't make things any easier.

This is the latest on my pandanus Vanuatu cowboy hat.

Still some work to tidy it up and get the trimming on. I’m using a black sheen cord which will have brass tips on the ends. (its just pinned at the moment)

This is 9cm brim and 11cm crown from head line to the bottom of the pinch. I think this taller crown will balance with your facial proportions.

It's a cool hat, Jonesy, but my eye keeps getting drawn to that insane collection of ribbons in the background. O, to get my hands on those....

And I hadn't mentioned it previously since I was ashamed of my lack of self control, but I'm expecting a Brent Black Hemingway with a Storm Gray ribbon to arrive in the mail later today. <blush>

I really like how Mr's Fawcett and Black send out tools/samples to ensure the sizing is correct. Makes me soooo much more willing to risk a mail order hat.

I had that happen with an international shipment once. The parcel went from South America to the U.S., then to Germany, then back to the U.S. and was eventually delivered. The explanation I was given was that the carrier's main sorting/routing hub was in Germany and that, for reasons not explained, each and every package in their care had to pass through that hub for tracking purposes. At the time it sounded like a weak excuse for accidentally routing that package incorrectly, but that was their story and they stuck to it.

This is a bit of a dumb question, but I'm curious about what the general consensus will be: Which thread should we post in once these hats arrive? I mean, this is the "What hat are you waiting for today?" thread and once they arrive we're no longer waiting for them, so where do we go next? Post here anyway just to provide some closure to the hats' journeys? The "Post New Hats Here!" thread which would technically be more appropriate? Both? Or...?

Not dumb question at all in my opinion! *I* have posted my new hats with pictures and stuff in the threads related to them (my Stetson Playboy was posted in Playboys on Parade, my Brent Black in Panama Hats) and then I post a link to that post here and "Post your new hats" for anyone who was following that didn't see it in the other threads.

Odd, but it sort of makes sense. Of course, I don't understand why they would pay the fuel/shipping costs to send something so round about. But that's just me. <shrug>

Sounds good to me; only a short way to to my doorstep:D Thanks, Pat!

Lucky for me, it's since "departed Amsterdam". Phew!
