Footwear to go with our jackets

Always had zero luck with engineer boots, never found a pair that was even remotely comfortable so recently, I finally decided to try my luck with harness boots which I originally preferred but didn't really have the courage to wear. Now I wish I had skipped the engineers altogether. I know it has nothing to do with the actual style but I have three pairs and can't decide which one is more comfortable. Plus they look so cool I can't go back to engineers'.
There's no point to this post, just wanna share how awesome harness boots are.

Awesome! Leave these as they are and get a pair in black. Same with jackets, gotta have both colors. What are these? I'm still trying to figure out which brands are good. Definitely not nearly as many options as with Engineer boots and I don't think the Japanese touched these. Sadly.

Alwasy great to find something you really like after a lng tiem of searching. Now buy six of every pair you like, because they'll doubtless stop being available ten minutes after you discover them if my luck is anything to go by!

A few years ago, in the official production in the UK of the Rocky Horror Show, they briefly put a character in engineer boots before switching to these because the neater fit makes them easier to dance in.

I think for a lot of people they fall between two stools: too cowboy for those of us who prefer theaesthetic of an engineer, and too plain for those who like the full-on, traditional flowery cowboy boot. That's likely why you don't see so many repops aimed at thesame market as engineers. Of course, much like cowboy boots, there's less variation in shape with these than engineers, so less to repop; also, unlike cowboy boots, they tend to be plainer, so no room for variation i n terms of decor..... I'm sure that adds to it.

Yep, agreed. It's exactly that and I've gotten quite a few "aren't they a bit too much?" comments recently, with an occasional "too cowboy" thrown in for good measure (even though I honestly don't see the resemblance with cowboy boots) while none of my engineer boots never attracted any kind of notice, positive or negative. The latter are nowadays even considered a formal footwear of a sort, how beautifully some of the makers are crafting theirs. Though, a harness boot has also recently picked up in popularity, at least in some toned down fashion form which while largely differing from the original, still retains all the major characteristics.

In any case, I dunno if they're any good but I've got a pair of Grinders on order. Hope I got the size right!

Grinders aren't bad if their engineers are anything to go by. Not quite as nice as Redwing, but a third of the price, so. I needed an insile for my engineers, but you'll probably be fine withouht for this narrower fitting design.

Allen Edmonds Hearst shoes. They go good with a leather jacket. Been wearing for past 6 months, about time for a shine. Not too heavy and not too light. They used a good thick quality leather.

I've bought some new boots.

You could say that I've got these specifically to go with my Daytona riding jacket, because even though they seem to look just like Red Wings they're actually retro-styled motorcycle boots, with armoured toes, heels and ankles.

I've given them a going over with Renapur for some extra water proofing (they already purport to be waterproof, but who knows), and darken them up a little from the original 'weathered' leather appearance.

I'm pretty pleased with them, tbh.

I have no idea, sorry. I saved these pics years ago because I liked the boots. Could be Sears but I'm not sure. Sears imo makes the nicest version out there. Used to make. Not a lot of makers took on this style which is actually good as there aren't any being priced at several thousand dollars. You can get a pair by Sears for $50.

Usually, when I'm dressed in jeans, I combine a short leather jacket (as the Perfect or a 30's HB) with my workboots.

Whenever I'm a bit more formal dressed I usually put on any of my dress boots with longer leather jackets or peacoats.
