It's been mentioned in other threads that perhaps the vintage/custom leather jacket phenomenon is fading but I personally find the opposite to be true. It's experiencing a quantum boom as one can plainly see here: https://www.thefedoralounge.com/thr...ny-potential-ones.89562/page-222#post-2543789 Prices bear that out too:mad:
22 pages and 4,423 posts in 2 years. Just say'n. I believe if started in 2010 and it were 2012 that thread might not have 5 pages.

But I don't have the time stone so I can't prove it, but I damn near hit all the stone colors in this post.

I get the feeling that Vintage and used jackets are booming but new custom jackets are pricing themselves out of the average persons ability to order and reorder multiples as was common a few years ago. I could be wrong but have the feeling we see a lot more used "finds" posts than "help me spec this new full price custom jacket" these days.

Yeah that's a good point and probably pretty darn accurate.

Hi all, second post for a lurker of about three months. Not sure if this qualifies as a deal, find, or both but thought I’d put this up here. It’s an Aero HB but in deer suede. I can find very little about this material with a search of this site, but understand that it was a limited run probably over five years ago.

I am about 6’6” and 230 with a 48” chest so naturally my “whoa...wait a minute” alarm goes of at the mention of 48L in anything.

What are your honest thoughts here, size non-withstanding? It is definitely different than anything else I’ve seen.

This jacket is more like a size 54, it has a 57.5" chest. It will be like 3 sizes too large for you, at least. It's absurdly large, no clue how they put a size 48 label in this. Maybe they had no larger labels printed. Move on without further thought, IMHO.

Thank you sir. Noticed that but in my searches I saw that Thurston’s size 48 Highwayman runs 28.25” pit to pit, so assumed this one wasn’t too abnormal. Still struggling with how all these different designs are supposed to fit.....

I have one of those, they are really nice old work jackets. They’re called “brewers tailcoats”. Never heard anyone claim that they are aviator jackets before. I could be wrong but I say that’s marketing bullshit.
Price is also pretty high, I got mine for half of what that sellers asking for.

Dave, for sure it's a little maddening trying to assess everything from our keyboard and screen, considering every jacket is different. What I've done is keep track of the measurements of a couple of jackets I have that fit me well, and then compare those to a jacket I'm considering. Also consider the method of measurement and double check that if need be. For example if I see a metal tape measure in a pic measuring the sleeve length, I know that is generally not going to be accurate. Of course we also always have to consider the style of the jacket, how thick the lining is, etc. etc. Always a gamble until you try it on! Even the same jacket from the same maker in the same size might vary.

So what if you did? Buy it. It's too beautiful. One of the nicest I've ever seen. You love these and sheepskin jackets are the best ever in the world and yours would be the best possible home it could get. I'm just glad nobody is making shearling truckers anymore, I'd go broke otherwise.
I'd love to, my size and everything, but a new bathroom is calling at the moment :(

Settle for a cheaper faucet and toilet seat. Should cover this baby, yeah. Besides, bathroom isn't (that much of a) joy. A new jacket is. :D
This looks good as new plus paperwork and all. If you ever decide to get one later, doubt a deal like this is going to be around so it's going you back 1800 GBP. Probably more, since the prices are still going up.
Additional bonus is you still get five months worth out of that calendar. :D

Aaand I'll shup up now.
