Finally laid my Mom's ashes to rest last week. Dementia finally got the best of her, but even through all of that people were surprised that she retained her sharp wit and her sense of humor. This was her at around 19 or 20 years old...

This was my Mom's Mother, (my actual Grandmother), who she never knew. My Mom's mother was "Miss Columbus", (Ohio), sometime before 1936. This newspaper clipping is one of two pictures that we have of her. She died in the hospital shortly after giving birth to my Mom...

and this is me from the late '70s, (probably around 24 at the time), and I'm hatless!

Lovely ladies your mom and grandmom. And you remind me of a young Patrick Swayze.

Thank you for sharing, Terry. It helps to keep hats in perspective. I lost my mother to dementia too. Your mother and grandmother were beautiful women; more importantly, your mother raised a child into a good man and that speaks volumes.

:) When someone makes it that easy I wouldn’t expect you to miss the opportunity.

I can’t tell you how many women that I’d never met before introduced themselves by running their fingers through my hair.

Truer words... I used to spend my time at HS parties having girls ask if they could brush my hair. Life was good.

Still warmer today, so I de-mothballed the unlined Dalton.

Thank you Brent. I appreciate that. Sorry it happened to your Mom, too. I'm sure she would have been proud of the way you turned out. My wife's Mom is going through the same right now and we don't believe she'll last the year, maybe sooner. Like my Mom did, hers is suffering from "Sundowners". My Mom decided she was going to sit down one and decided she wasn't going to get up.
