Second new hat for the day! This is my latest Phoenix Hat Company fedora in dark moss. Rick keeps outdoing himself!

Well, I took the plunge and got my first non-stingy fedora!!! Yes, yes, it’s just a straw, but a definite departure from the norm for me... I am surprised at how much I like it. Summer just beginning here in MA, so I got a few months to pick out my first non-stingy felt for the fall!!

That is a little bit on the stingy side for me, but it looks good on you.

Thanks, Mark. I have half as many hats as I did at the start of the year, but my collection is infinitely better quality. Rick’s hats fit right into my “fewer, but better” mindset. His hats are also great value for money.

I agree, Brent. Higher quality all around. Good job!

Well, the latest addition has been quite the adventure, but the hairy Dobbs arrived this afternoon. What I thought I was getting, a grey hat, based on listing pic(s):

Bang up job, literally, USPS. Fortunately the hat was inside a hat box inside this box and wrapped in bubble wrap and paper. Kudos to the seller:

That's right...it's green! Had to take pics outside to try to capture the coloration the best. No detailed shots of the head opening as it's rather windy today. I did peak under the sweatband and it's a 40s factory tag. Combined with the roundel, stitched sweatband joint, and improved felted welt process it should be circa WWII. The brim, while not floppy, is definitely not a snap brim. Might end up being a brims up hat, not sure yet. There is some brownish/rusty soiling in spots. Will be interesting to see what some steam and a brush will do, but first off to the deep freeze for decontamination protocol.

All in all, I'm quite pleased with this unique piece. More details to be posted in a few days in the Dobbs Diner and Green Machine threads.

Nice pick up. A little steam might put some life back in the brim.
