This looks to be a tier below Gustin's efforts with CXL. It appears they tried to do too much here. They would have been much better off omitting the trump sized epaulettes and awkward coin pocket.
Definitely once again agree haha. My fascination and or curiosity which merely stemmed from targeted FB ads bringing it my attention is more focused on is it worth the price? The layout and design and as I said before even for their boots is not my cup of tea. But based on the reviews and the materials and build of their stuff Im willing to bet for that price its a quality jacket. Probably no one here buys one...maybe in a year theres one on ebay for 200 bucks and out of curisoity someone snags it thats about all I see a TFL member doing with such a thing. But the reason Im curious with the price aspect is, they are using a top tier leather maker and if its well built (design aside) just construction wise, that price seems super affordable. Which makes me think about fashion but also yes us guys so focused on the Aero, Vanson, LW, GW etc...what are we paying for their? How much is name of the maker, how much is labor for where they are made? How much so on and so forth. Now that Im done rambling and going off on other tangents as Im prone to do. But Ive shared my thought now haha

I actually think with some small design tweaks this could be a nice pick-up. At least on par with what Gustin does.

I see nothing in this jacket that offends me, and I'm very prone to revulsion. I think it looks pretty good for the price. Hopefully it isn't too long, but it looks rather good on the model.

Edit* nevermind. I hadn't seen the additional pics. The first two photos are decent but the others, especially the generic label...meh

Right?! Like @ton312 said a few tweaks to design and it’s probably a really solid jacket. But there’s just a few things off with it.

Right leather but bad designs. If a jacket has a bad design and pattern the material can't save it.

The jackets we buy aren't more expensive because of the raw materials but also because behind them there's a lot of knowledge put into building them. It's not just random people drawing a design on a paper and making it happen in a factory.

I think it's a good product for someone starting out with leather jackets. For those of us more initiated into quality outerwear, a few design tweaks would be preferred but at that price point, not bad overall. It'll never make us forget about Thedi, Aero, Langlitz et al but we're not the sort of market it's aimed at anyway, as per the article PN kindly posted the link to.

If the company doesnt feel any of those trousers worn by their models are way too short, of course they dont see how their jacket is too long.:Dbeside who in the world see mac gyver as jacket inspiration really , swiss army knife perhaps, or mullet hairstyle more likely

I have a pair of natural CXL engineer boots and I really like this leather. I do not like the jacket though. The belt looks flimsy and the baby epaulets are comical.

PN, thanks for the link. I've always been partial to the idea of decent leather jackets at a price that's affordable for young guys or those without a lot to throw around. It reminds me of the Sears and Montgomery Ward jackets when I was a kid. The more the merrier.

I still say they came close here. A couple of simple subtractions and this would've been already ordered by me. Lose the bits they can't style quite right, hack off two inches and this would've been a steal.

for the price it really is hard to criticize. the real test is fit. if this jacket fits the majority of standard-sized dudes well than it's a winner.

Regarding the jacket and Thursday as a whole, the article PN posted while sounding sorta liked paid advertising, has a valid point. Design not withstanding it is likely a good jacket at the price point. I think it is good to have a bridge between a mall jacket and an Aero as maybe Aero is between a Thursday and a Real McCoys. Today I can afford an Aero. When i was 25 i could not. Still can’t (really won’t) afford a Real McCoys, but we’ll chat next year.

This seems like it would be more Thursdays market competiotion than Eastman and I’d guess quality is very similar and only 1/2 the price.

I saw these jackets the other day and thought the natural CXL was interesting, just not my style. I would never be able to get one because I have long arms and I have yet to buy an off the shelf jacket that fit, but I do own 3 pairs of their boots with a pair of color number 8 Vanguards (also using Horween) on the way. I have to say the build quality on these boots is great. I have landed on four brands that work really well for me and they are Thursday, Wolverine, Frye, and Allen Edmonds. I think you get a good mix of quality for the price with these brands, but there are definitely some other brands I wouldn't mind trying as well. Thursday makes a top notch boot in my opinion, especially for the price. I think the build quality of these rivals all my other boots and exceeds them in some ways. I don't own any other Thursday products, but if you were on the fence about their boots, I can say that I really enjoy the pairs I have. The rugged collection is really nice, too.

This has always been my hunch on them as a company/brand. They only make one or two styles I would consider purchasing. Just not a fan of the majority of their designs. But design is not materials or build quality. They really do get rave reviews and the few I have seen in person seemed like exceptional quality for the money. If they had more designs I enjoy I would already own 3 pairs. But sadly this applies to the jacket as well. A few tweaks and when I saw this pop up on FB newsfeed I would have bought one right then and there for that price. I suspect though it’s a perfect design for their target audience. Which is clearly not TFL members.

My experience with Thursday Boots is also entirely positive. They're not as snazzy as my AE Walton boots, but then the Waltons get worn about once every two or three weeks and the Thursdays two or three times a week. I'm also surprised how little wear the soles and heels show after two years. If I wanted an everyday, functional jacket that I didn't want to worry too much about (say, for travelling purposes), I'd have a lot of faith in ordering from these guys.

Sorry everyone to resurrect an oldish/deadish thread. I wanted to do future Thursday jacket considerers that may come to FL looking for reviews (like I did) a favor: offer a first hand experience/warning with the jacket. I read reviews, saw everyones' concerns, but bought the natural motorcycle jacket anyway. I took delivery this week, and here's what I experienced.

First off, the shipping was super fast, the leather is beautiful, and it the jacket smells absolutely incredible. That's where the good kind of stops, unfortunately. The jacket was "wrapped" in tissue paper inside of the cardboard shipping box - no bag or interior box at all, which could have spelled disaster had it arrived on a rainy day. I pulled the jacket out, and threw it on before any other inspection. Immediately, I felt an uncomfortable lump when I tried to zip up. I searched the pockets, and found an old, ratty set of earmuffs jammed in the interior chest pocket - the first clue that the jacket was used/returned.

I pulled out the earmuffs and got to inspecting the jacket on my person. First thing I noticed was that the zipper felt really lightweight in comparison to the leather - I can't imagine it wouldn't have failed me well before the leather began to soften/break in.

The next thing I noticed were the epaulets. They were like oversized loops sitting on top of my shoulders, and there was absolutely no way they could ever lay flat while buttoned (snapped).

In trying to figure out how to make the epaulet issue work, I discovered another issue: the right hand collar, its snaps and the right shoulder epaulet were pretty severely misaligned. In order to attach the collar to its chest snaps, the collar would have to break free from its natural lay and create a weird lump in the neck are. Even worse, the collar could not be attached to the snaps without covering the snap end of the right shoulder epaulet. Neither of these issues occurred on the left hand side, so it's not just a weird pattern.

Before the Thursday arrived, I checked Schott and saw a 673 Retro Moto Style Jacket on sale for $575, so I ordered that as well and figured I'd return whichever one I liked less. For less than $100 difference, the Schott was an absolute night and day difference in terms of build quality, quality control, and heft. Unfortunately, the 673 in particular is a bad cut for me (my wife said I looked like Melissa Etheridge in it... whoops), so they're both being returned. With that said, future Thursday jacket considerer: if you can swing a slightly higher price on a Schott, by all means do. It's absolutely worth the price difference and then some.

We always appreciate the feedback around here, and is in line with what a lot of us felt at that price point. But again always better to hear firsthand. We often times will bring up a brand or new product from a brand just to discuss it. Ive posted a few things Ive simply stumbled across so the folks around here could see them, comment, or purchase should they want to. Its a shame though to hear the concerns were mostly true. I hear great things about their boots, and maybe weve reached a saturation point for the market where the prices can fall a bit back; but over the last few years they have exploded. For those on a budget, taking a chance, buying as a gift etc... could certainly use a model of quality at this price point.

Thanks for that first hand review! This is not surprising at all as I have heard similarly bad experiences with their boots. Glad to hear it from someone who actually had one though.

I have a pair of their boots and they are pretty nice for the price I paid. They are a little dressier than I thought they would be, so they don’t get much wear because I am not a dressy guy.
