I bet you didn't put up any resistance as the Ludoela forced itself on your head, Stefan [emoji4]. Really suits you.
Sorry to hear about Mike's back. Hope he gets better soon and is able to start posting again.

Thanks, Steve. I didn't put up much of a fight against the Ludoela. I'm sure Mike will appreciate our support.

I think it appreciated the bath. And I didn't wear it while I was chopping up tree parts.

That one is a real beauty. Super choice.

Today it's a Champ Kasmir finish.

Pretty low crown on this one.

Seems to be some rain coming this way again.
Have a good one,
Michael
Thanks, Michael. I like those Champ hats like the one you're wearing, but I find there's quite a bit of difference between one or the other, both in style and finish.

Excellent parade of hats as usual, Jeff. For some reason that first crease on the Stetson 25 seems to work best (in my view).

What is the color of most paper money in Holland, Stefan? Is it GREEN? Que viva el verde! [emoji2]

We have the Euro these days, Max. There is a bank note that is actually green (the 100 euro note), but the most common ones are other colours. We used to have fantastic paper money here in Holland, very brightly coloured. Can it be a coincidence that the lowest denomination was green?:D

Still deciding on keeping the Borsalino or not because I have 3 in the same colourways (which I know to you seasoned hat collectors is NOTHING haha but to me 3/4 hats being that colour is a lot, soon to be 5 with a grey OR coming in!! So I may just keep it after all)
@AbbaDatDeHat

Funny how the slightest of details changes the look. I tried on all 3 hats and in the end the Borsolino that I attempted to do a cattleman crease worked, I stuck a feather in it for fun. It's about the same dimensions as my OR in brim length, in crown height, but it *looks* smaller.

I originally wanted my OR Stetson to be a cattleman crease, but @alanfgag did such a beautiful job with the shape it is currently I couldn't bring myself to change it/ruin it (since it would be my first time shaping).

I changed my outfit about 3 times too to figure out what would work. I think this is what I'll be wearing, I'm going for afternoon drinks with some friends on a terrace, it's not a great day but meh, it's a long weekend in Canada. The only question now is, I wanted to bike there because I haven't biked a lot since Winter cleared up but how am I going to transport this thing? Roll it up for a 10 minute bike ride? It looks like the Borsolino could handle it, any tips for transporting it while I'm biking around? It's too windy to keep on my head I suspect.

LEFT: custom hat I got made with my design, I actually don't think I'll be wearing this as much now that I've acquired "better" hats, but maybe in the summer with a plain white tee
MIDDLE: Vintage (1940, 50, 60 I can't tell?) Borsalino
RIGHT: 1950s OR Stetson silverbelly

As you can see, my Netflix paused show decided I was taking too long so it disconnected

Looks good to me, Jessie, even if I'm not a fan of the cattleman crease myself. That's what makes these vintage felts so attractive: you can dry crease them in whatever shape takes your fancy and be on your merry way. And indeed: the smallest of details may change the look completely. The Borsalino and the Stetson may be in the same colour scheme, but they are still different hats. Once you reach fifty hats in the same colour scheme, ask the question again:)
Take a peak behind the sweatband of the Borsalino for the label and check out the Borsalino brotherhood for its age. Or post the label and we'll tell you.

oh lord, I think I will stop at 5-6?, I kind of like the idea of a smaller collection to really give each a rotation and truly enjoy each one. But never say never

What era do you think this is from?

It's a late forties to early fifties hat. That type of label (with the Borsalino name printed sideways) was around from the mid to late thirties onwards. In the early to mid fifties the name disappeared from the label. Ghiaccio ("ice") is the colour name, c. nero stand for cinto (ribbon) black and Gorasgu is the model name (we haven't figured out yet what the name means). We don't know exactly when the model was introduced, but probably post WWII.

@steur were felts softer for all hats in general back in the day? or just some brands?
There's something very addictive about vintage hats; just saying (it's a harmless addiction though). As to the softness of felts: no, just some of them. In general I'd say the European made hats tend to be somewhat softer. American made hats are, again in general, more stiff. Maybe because the American makers tended to use the same production methods for their dress hats as they did for the western hats, which as working hats need to be more stiff and sturdy.

Hahaha. I think many of us never thought we would end up with so many.
I just ordered another hat safe today, with capacity for 140 hats.
I keep telling Ana this will be the last.

I love your Champ B-17. I remember someone posting it quite awhile back before I ever decided to join this forum(I don’t do social media) but couldn’t remember who it was. My father completed his tour of 35 missions as tail gunner in a B-17. If you ever decide to part with it please let me know I’m quite found of items B-17 related.

Stefan, you may well be colour-blind as you say, but your sense and understanding for colour and shades of them are second to none. Cudos.
You're more than entitled not to like green hats. In fact, we fellow Loungers should be grateful that you don't. It doesn't stop you finding them, buying them, and sending them on their way to us who do.
Thank you!
