It is a stock size 46 with a straight back (no kidney panel dip). Stuart sent me the standard model for a fit jacket and I almost told him I needed a 48 instead, what a mistake that would have been! He really has a sweet pattern here because the jacket is quite comfortable and with good freedom of movement despite the fact there are no shoulder gussets nor action back.
I don’t know if it is a game ender, but if I am smart I will realize that I am not going to improve on this when it comes to the CHP style.

Totally agree about the length of the vintage jackets and that’s something I was really nervous about when I ordered this one. The jacket that I tried on ended 2 1/2 or 3 inches above my belt in the front, pretty much right at the belly button. I can see how that would make sense riding a motorcycle and wearing a heavy gun belt strapped to the jacket. Could not be more pleased with the length front and back on this one.

This beast weighs in at almost 10 pounds but it feels pretty comfortable right out of the box. The horsehide is thicker than that of any other jacket I own with the possible exception of my vintage Cal Leathers CHP.
I’m quite pleased with the fit, especially knowing that it will only improve as the jacket settles in and softens up a bit.
