Hello everyone
I've just purchased this hopefully rather nice Star 55J14 from a well known auction site . The seller assures me that it is in very good condition although the mouton fur has been replaced. I know these were produced from 47 up until 51 ish however is it possible to get the exact fiscal year of production. I'm also curious if its possible to find any details of the original owner ie Lt W B WEAVER USNR and if so how would i go about it. The jacket should be with me by May 30th so i'll post better pics etc when it arrives . Thank you in advance for any help , advice etc

The thought had already crossed my mind . if for some reason i don't like it i'll pm you .
I also have a nice L W foster in my collection with what i believe to be an original vf-41 squadron patch on it and also a Monarch which is now at Aero Leathers awaiting some repairs.

Well the jacket arrived today and its better than expected . The goatskin is the heaviest that ive come across and a really deep seal brown . Much heavier than my L W Foster and possibly my Monarch . The blackened conmar zip works perfectly and the knits are free from holes and appear to be the originals. To be honest i'm blown away by it . Its everything i was hoping for and more.
When i first bought my Foster i never expected to be buying another and then another but , well we all know how it gets a hold of you. Ill post some better pics of it this weekend and i'll let you see how it fits. All of these jackets are a size 40 with the Monarch being the trimmest --- it fits nice in the waist and torso but a little tight in the upper chest and shoulder.
The Foster is a nice trim fit in the torso with more room in the chest and shoulders. This Star 55J14 is slightly looser in the torso and chest but neater in the shoulders but its very comfortable as the sleeves are a looser cut and allow for more movement.
I dont think i'll be parting with this anytime soon if at all.
