Took a chance on these on Ebay, no maker name listed. I take a 10D these are a 10E, but I was fast on the draw and they accepted my offer, $38 to my door. A bit dried out so there will be a substantial restoration going on for a while. The label inside is faded but I have been able to make out they are Blucher Boots of Beggs, OK.

I have wanted a pair of the PeeWee style inlays for a while now, I'm happy!

Anyone have any idea what the snap is for in the top of the boot on the left. No others in either boot, just that one, the snap is on the inside.

Those look great! Congrats on the find and good luck with the restoration.

No idea really aboutthe the snap. Could maybe have been to hold a wallet or pistol holster inside the boot.

My first thought would be boot knife, too, but it looks like the snap may be on the inside of the right leg of the boot? In other words, you would have to reach between your legs to draw? That would seem to be awkward. I can’t quite make out the orientation from the pictures. Nice find, no matter what the snap is for!

The snap is on the inside, perhaps sheath hung over the top.

Some of the coolest vintage boots posted around here in awhile. Blucher has quite a history. Most of what pops up for sale is from the time Dennis Griffith owned it or the current guy, Smitty he's called and I don't remember his name at the moment. They've always used that cloth label with the owners name written on a line in the middle. The labels changed after Griffith bought the shop to Griffith-Blucher and later reverted to Blucher again after Smitty bought it. I think these boots were made by someone before Griffith.

Don't know about the holster or knife sheath in such a tall top boot. Kinda hard to get to if you really need it with the tops covered by a pant leg. Maybe a wallet, money pouch.

I'm with you on the money holder Cuz....but I could also see a pair like that not spending too much time hidden under a pants leg.

Since the snap is on the inside right boot I would say it was for a wallet. Ankle holster/knife sheaths are carried inside boot but outside right for right handed individuals. It's for deep cover carry & not quick draw so it doesn't matter that it's under the pant leg. Just don't get caught having to take your boots off at the airport.

Can't think off hand who it is but there is a custom bookmaker who still offers a boot wallet as an option on his boots.

Just got off the phone with James "Smitty" Smith, current owner of Blucher. Tells me they are Style 450, he still makes them. The job number is inside the boot, he told me records for older boots were donated by him to the National Cowboy and Western Heritage Museum, I have a call in to them to see if I can get a copy of the build sheet.

He said the snap is for a small wallet. Quite a gentleman.

Some new acquisitions: snake white-label Noconas and some Lucchese San Antonio lizard. Both great boots but the tejus are something else! The older Luccheses always fit like they were made for me.

I have to agree....both are nice but those lizards really are something else. That shade of brown always looks good on teju boots. It really ages well.

There was some discussion a while back about boot signs. I had mentioned this one. Was through the area this morning and was surprised to see it's still standing. The boot store has been gone for probably 25 years or more. Now it's a beauty salon......a beauty salon with a giant boot on the roof.

I have to agree too, butterscotch teju is a must have. My first 2 pairs were Acme black and butterscotch printed teju, didn't know any better. They never fit well and almost put me off boots. Now I have white label Noconas in butterscotch, love 'em!

In the category of boots I found but did not buy today. Saw the Tony Lamas at a flea market. Instantly recognized the pattern, as will @Bamaboots and @Hurricane Jack. I've never seen them in this color way before. They were made from a thick, oiled leather and weighed a ton. My old black and red ones are calf, if I recall correctly, and are about as light as a pair of socks.

I also found these square toe black cherry side zip half boots. They had a thick work sole and were practically brand new. These are the kind of boots you wear with a pair of those stretchy levis dress jeans and a big ass comb in your back pocket. And maybe a moustache. For $8, I probably would have sprung for these if they'd been my size because they reminded me so much of the ones my uncle wore when he was a truck driver back in the 70s when I was a kid. I'm pretty sure you can still get kicks like this from the Shepler's catalog, but I don't want them bad enough to pay full price for them.

Unusual to say the least, Cuz. I've seen what I always thought of as the "firewalker" pattern in the red and black like we've had and another in snake and black, but never this. Just looking at the tongue, the leather looks thick.

I got a little curious after Dale posted those TL's yesterday so I did a little digging on the bay and looks like they made this boot in several leather combos. The top pair have overlays on the pulls.

I've seen various combinations of leather overlays & colors before but I've never seen a pair where the buckstitching didn't contrast. I wondered if the pair Dale saw had been dyed or polished over? Even the stitching appears to be the same brown color.

Good points. I also noticed that the top pair I posted don't have shaft inlays as all the other ones I've seen had. Couldn't tell from the pic if the boots Dale posted had inlay or not.
