This wonderful John B. Stetson Company ca. 1920s Bowler arrived today. Thanks to Garrett for enabling this piece of American hat history to head (pun intended) my way.
It's seen some action, but that's all a part of its attraction and charm for me.
It seems to be even thinner a felt than the Hückel Bowler I posted the other day. But thanks to Steve (MayserWegener) I now understand why.
For me, it fits so well that the dents, caused by action and wear, are no problem at all, but a part of its charm.
If anyone knows anything about the gold markings on the liner, I'd appreciate a lesson. The bottom ones are worn out, but the top one is intact. Are they union or fraternity markings of some kind?

The crescent and sword is a Shriner's symbol. The other looks like jpart of the letter A.

I think you're right about it being a letter A. The gold inlay by the side looks like the top of a T. I'm guessing the missing letter is an R. This would match up with the letters on the sweat band. A couple of hats bought from Stefan along with the Mayser Panama Boater.
Two wonderful looking vintage Hückel Fedoras.
The grey, a Hückel Chevreau: the tawny fawn, a Hückel Chamois.
Both super soft felts, the Chevreau particularly velvety in feel.
No paper labels, but both ca.1950s I'd say.

You should never leave a fez, Steve! Acceptable to wear indoors and Dr. Who wears one; what more excuse do you need?

Dobbs, unlined hat. Overwelt brim at 7cms and crown 10,5cm at the front pinch. It resisted my usual center dent and side pinches and we agreed on this crease. I think I paid about $40 for it, which kind of surprised me. Mike @Redfokker was kind enough, as he always is, to send it to me. OPA priced, so WWII era.
