I was lucky to win an estate auction of 13 hats from Mac Lachlan Air-Vac, Stetson, Resistol, Knox, Dobbs, Glen Royal, etc. to some rather neat hats that might not make the cut (on of them didn't listen to Mom and Dad and had a party of moths. Also a couple of what I call Sam Snead.
I am beginning with the Mac and thrilled. Wish it was larger. It is a Size 7 in White. It is not perfection, but pretty close to it. No moth holes, but a tiny flea dent. Perfect lining. I'll bet it wasn't worn more than once.
So, after reading and re-reading your pages (perhaps the single most bit of information on the Net, I have questions:
Year of Manufacture
Any historical information about the company. I read they closed abruptly. Years in operation?
Information about previous purchases that I can use to figure out pricing. I really do not want to use Ebay and/or an auction. Probably Etsy.
So, whatever you can share, please do. Btw, I noticed that there was a question on the threads about the lining. I believe it is some type of silk, but just like that I forgot the name. Hopefully it will come to me.

Quick question: What is the best way to measure the crown on this MAC? I will measure the head band along with the size. I've not had a crown like this and not sure what is appropriate. Thanks.

Congrats sir that is a glorious light hued felted fedora! The exquisite details of the felt, Airvac sweat (the corrugated or articulated feature), condition, ribbon treatment all are part and parcel of a truly dynamite hat. Wear that fedora proudly.
As to measure crown - the crease in the crown of the hat can be pushed up to make the hat "open crown." Measurements of the max height of the open crown are easier to take. It would be interesting to see a profile pic of the open crown height to get an idea of the shape of the block used. (Block is the name of the form that was used in creating the shape of the crown. )

I don’t know all the years on dating Macs, but I can add some basic ideas if you have not read it all yet. Mac Lachlan was a higher end hat that (based on their ads) produced quite a few $50 and $100 hats for other hat companies and private store lines.
This one is a Fifteen, meaning it originally cost $15, the same price point of a Stetson 3X. Hats went for $5 and $10 all the way through the 50s, so a $15 hat is on the nicer end.
Folks here can be reticent to talk pricing, because a lot of guys here may want to be your customers! But generally speaking Macs are in demand and 15s, 20s, 40s, etc sell well depending on their original price level.
Good luck with the hat! Some of the other guys can probably give a decade of manufacture, etc.

I can easily say there is one big factor I have noticed in hat pricing: size. 7 1/8 and below can sell for 30-50% less than hats sized 7 1/4 and above. It is supply and demand: few older hats in larger sizes, and modern heads are bigger.
My view: Your best bet on price is just to let the eBay market decide. If you properly label the sale, everyone will see it, and folks will bid on it or make an offer.

If you come across any in 7 5/8 or 7 3/4 I’m your man! I’ve got a $20 burning a hole in my pocket and that should be good for at least 4 or 5 hats.

I had to go through all of my emails to find your message. I was gone most of yesterday and for whatever reason I can't get through on my phone messages to give replies. So, desktop here to save the day.
To your comment. My thanks for your interest and recommendations:
Yes, I am very much aware of price vs price and size being smaller. In most cases I do absolutely agree with you; however, my MAC is not what I would consider in the usual or ordinary range. Yes, I am a novice to most of this and have sold perhaps 5 hats in my lifetime (most of which were small), but I understand rare whether it is to be worn for the head or as part of a collection. There are hats on sites that are far more than my intended thoughts about pricing (since I couldn't find any real comparisons I chose other lesser brands).
As for ebay, there's a story here, and I'll keep this short. I opened an ebay store a couple years ago to move some vintage items quickly and for the huge exposure. I primarily sell on etsy. I was a top rated seller+ with ebay at one point until they really started to play games and I told them I was no longer going to jump their hoops especially since me fees are somewhere between 19%-25%. My final comment was, "I don't reward bad behavior." They took this up with top management and they only reduced me to top rated. Now, with 100% perfect everything they are going to lower me to above average. In essence, sellers no longer have any rights there and I'm not playing any more games.
And, let's just add this as an example.... if the winner gets a hat (example), wears the hat, and then decides a month or so later to return it (and those who do it know the "key word" to use for the claim and for the return), they automatically refund the money in most cases and a shipping label to return it. No say, seller, sorry. Take it forward to prom dresses, wedding gowns, holidays, etc. See bad habits?
I apologize this got so long, but it is a frustrating topic for me.
Back to the MAC. This will not go on ebay for all and more mentioned above.
I went through over 30 pages of the classified thread yesterday totally breaking my rule not to stray from topic. Wow... I love this place. I digress. The rules state to set a price, no offers. Offers had been made and it was brought up. I would not be offended by offers, but I certainly would not go against the classified rules.
