Nice. I like the overwelt. No markings on the sweat?New to me Royal Stetson. I think this one's from the 40s or 50s, judging from the liner. 2 3/8" brim, crown is a little better than 5". Pics in natural and indoor light....none of them really capture the color all that well.

Sweat is embossed Royal Stetson with the crest on one side, name of the store on the other. Two paper labels under the liner, with numbers written in pencil on them. No other labels. Size tag was missing. A lucky find, it fit me perfectly (I'm usually in the 7 3/8 to 7 1/2 range)
Any ideas as to a more accurate age appreciated.

I think your hunch re age is right. More 40s than 50s for me, though. Probably early 40s, too. The shape, style, and overall look (plus the pencil written label) all suggest a late 30s early 40s vintage.
Whatever its age, it's a good one. Congrats.

Based on the logo on both the sweatband and liner I would say 50s. My understanding is the logo changed from stars to the leaf in 52.Thanks!

"Bellona", 58 cm, Back Bow, Crown Open 6 inches, Brim 2 3/4 inches, possibly 1920s. The black Wool felt easily dry creases and has a nice glow. I have few of these old Wool hats with similar paper labels but I believe this is the oldest. The Crown Patch is missing. I wasn't able to take very good photos so I will take some wearing it outdoors.
This could be a Sheep surrounded by an "F" and a "S" so possibly Friedrich W. Schneider Köln.

Thanks. I had read something about stars and leafs, but truthfully my glasses are getting worn out and don't work as well as they used to and I couldn't see any leafs OR stars

I recieved another hat today and from my research it seems it’s a bit of an oddball.
It’s just labelled as ‘The Sovereign’ and it has no open road designation. The crown is around 4 1/2” high and the brim measures around 2 1/2 - 2 5/8”
From what I have learned it’s definitely early 50’s. It has the keyhole tag without the integer and Stetson written above. The felt is quite soft and nothing on the hat is stiff. I was easily able to do a dry re-shape to a cattleman’s crease ( just to see what it looked like in my pondering of is this an OR? )
At any rate it’s a beautiful hat in nice shape.. but its a 7 1/4 and it doesn’t fit me.
Any more information you guys have on it would be appreciated. I will be posting it either for sale or trade for something in a similar vintage in my size 7 3/8 - 7 1/2

Yeah that's my hope. Everyone has been great to me here so far. I could hang on to it, maybe try and stretch it to fit but I feel it's better served to someone who can appreciate it without having to mess with a nice vintage hat. And maybe someone without such a big melon is tired of tucking bills in there own stetson.

That's a beautiful hat. In my limited observations, older Sovereigns are rarely thin ribbons. You often see the Sovereign Twenty designation, some times with a Mode Edge. However, those normally have a wider ribbon.
Very nice and rare example of a quality 50s hat.

Huckel Chevreau size 59, well preserved, except the ribbon which has small spots
The hat is in perfect German tradition, very well done and with quality finishes.
It is a classic of the 60s German hats production
My dating is very empirical, but certainly my friend Steve (owner of a Huckel mine of the same type) will know how to give him an age and something else to complete the information framework
It was sold in Mulheim in the Ruhr, under the Huckel brand on the sweatband there is indicated that it is waterproof.
The dimensions are: open crown at 13 centimeters, ribbon at 4.5 and brim. edged and finished with a seam, they are 6.5 cm. The felt is of medium consistency and suede finished
Meanwhile, settle for this, as soon as it is a little cooler you will have the contents of the two boxes coming from the Netherlands, now it's too hot. Be patient
It sounds a mite chilly around there to a Fahrenheit man.
