FS: Stetson 'The Sovereign' Early 50's 7 1/4

Selling or trading my early 50's Stetson ‘The Sovereign’ it has no open road designation but similar shape and styling. The crown is around 4 1/2” high and the brim measures around 2 1/2 - 2 5/8”

I do have what I believe to be the original box.

From what I have learned it’s definitely early 50’s. It has the keyhole tag without the integer and Stetson written above. The felt is quite soft and nothing on the hat is stiff. I was easily able to do a dry re-shape to a cattleman’s crease ( just to see what it looked like in my pondering of is this an OR? )

At any rate it’s a beautiful and I'm told quite rare hat in nice shape.. but its a 7 1/4 and it doesn’t fit me.

Make me an offer! I am most interested in a trade for something of a similar vintage in my size which is 7 3/8 - 7 1/2

Thanks for sending those Vic. It’s a really nice hat but I don’t know if it’s a style that I will wear as I’m more into westerns. What are the crown / brim dimensions?

Let me give it a bit of thought tonight and get back to you.

Ever since I joined this place, it was common practice in the Classifieds for a Member to offer something and set a price. When did we get away from that? By not setting your expectation, this has been turned into a "blind auction" where the seller has all of the knowledge of what his expectations are and what "bids" are coming in.

As quoted from the guidance at the beginning of this section, "Here, in the Classified section, please offer your items at set prices (but be prepared to haggle)."

This is an interesting hat, but we're all playing the guessing game of "What does this guy think it's worth?"

You make a very good point. I'm sorry, I am pretty new to the lounge. It was more my lack of knowledge of what it's actually worth around here than trying to maximize any kind of return. I bought the hat off Etsy with the intention of wearing it so it was purchased at full pop and wasn't a thrift store find or the like. The main reason I didn't set a price to begin with was I was mostly interested in a trade for another hat - I'm currently looking for somewhere around the $200.00 mark which includes shipping but I am open to offers.

After posting I felt guilty for singling you out, and understand your predicament. It just seems that lately we've had some newer Members listing things w/o setting a price, and many of these folks likely have an inflated view of the value of their product. So, we wind up playing, "Find me a rock."

I think you're in the right ballpark with your asking price (not really, I think, oh, may $2.98, LOL). I'll go through the sofa cushions and see what I can come up with.

It's all good. When I get into things I get into them and I'm all about doing things the right way. I appreciate the feedback.

I also basically have the $200.00 already 'spent' and then some on a few other hats I'm interested in. haha.
