I just used this for the first time.

Worked pretty good and I'm sure I'll get better as I use it more. But I got this Montecristi from Art Fawcett with a small curl on the brim. I was outside in a mist and the curl went away. I also wanted more of a curl. I knew I wouldn't be shipping out hats to get the curl restored so I looked for a solution I could do in house. Anyway, for a first attempt it think it went pretty well.

HI, Found this in my local antique shop, a beat up vintage aluminium block that is electric with small steam outlet holes.
It’s made by Frank Spieler in Frankfurt and appears to be supplied by Reslaw in London.
I’ve never seen one, does anyone have any info on these and an approximate date please? It’s a cool piece, quite pricey but still considering buying it

Cool period piece, but I’d be scared to actually use it. It looks all too easy to shock yourself; I’m thinking Underwriters Laboratory never saw that piece of equipment.

I’m curious as to why you think it’s better than the other Excellent models: Stratoliner, New York LE, etc. Is is just personal tastes, or was it made to a higher standard?

Personal taste/the rare Tobacco felt (which yes, I know the New York was offered in). Heck, it's Matt Deckard's Indy hat!

The tobacco color is unlike any of my other brown hats. Nice warm glow. Fortune and Glory kid, Fortune and Glory.

Thanks, Jared. I agree it’s one slick hat. I do wish the Stetsonian had been offered in the pure beaver Excellent felt; my preference as a near perfect hat.

Thanks, I had to do a google search on what a orange hat sponge was.. LOL.... I ordered one and it should arrive shortly.
