Wherefore art thou RLK? Thanks for the great postings, here is a twin to the Stetson velour. A super fun hat! And another sweet reorder tag on an early 1900s hat!

Very nice. Have you photographed the LOTXXXX number behind the sweatband in your hat? (perhaps use a mirror). The white manufacturing label is a puzzler. Not a sign of age, I think, as red tags existed before and after these, which seem to all appear in a hats with LOTXXXX numbers between 5500 and 6500. Perhaps used for hats that have had a factory cleaning/renovation? Thanks for sharing!

Here are a couple of other white tags... the longhair is mine, the derby is from a contribution to the pre-1960s hat group on Facebook.

Wow! Amazing! Wow!

That kind of dedicated, slightly eccentric (and apparently sensitive) guy with the “Dating Stetsons by Crest” and “Liner” and reorder tags website and blog says the white tag with reorder combination is exceedingly rare, very early 1900s.

Also amazing! Wow!

Is there a red bow era? I have two similar hats that came with red bows but both bows completely disintegrated at the first touch.

Love those hats!

Daniel

I may have to reshoot for better exposure but here goes.

1890's - 1910's Stetson Boss Raw Edge with a Fray sweat from the red bow era.

@M Hatman suggested this may be a ‘Kingston’ model... a predecessor of the Stetson Open Road. I have no knowledge other than that but this is one impressive hat!!

I thought I was getting this to check it out and pass it on to a friend whose size it would be more appropriate. Much to my surprise after unpacking and setting atop my head it fit perfectly. I am usually 6 7/8 to 7.. my 7 1/8 hats have felt strips in the sweat so I can still wear them. I even had two 6 3/4 arrive that fit perfectly... no way this 7 1/4 was gonna fit... yet here we are. So looks like this one is going to be around longer than I planned.

Be well.. and be safe.
