Premier Highwayman Alternative Cuff Options

Evening All,

First thread so figured I'd make it a useful one!

I'm currently in the middle of sorting out an order issue with Aero (I won't go in to the exact details but primarily nobody was directly at fault so I'm putting it down to experience).

The jacket in question is an Aero Premier Highwayman and I'm not 100% sold on the button cuffs that come as standard. The only two alternative options I've heard of are either zip sleeves or the standard Highwayman cuffs. I've seen a couple of zip sleeved Premier Highwaymans but never seen one with standard highwayman cuffs.

Now my question is to any current Premier Highwayman owners on FL who have gone for other options than the standard cuffs:

What did you go for? If so pictures? Are you happy with your choice? Any recommendations?

I’ll bite. Board racer sleeves work really well on the primo HWM. Here’s mine:

Gives the jacket a very solid nod to an LL dominator. Also adds a bit of an edge to the otherwise fairly tame style. That said the idea of the standard cuff on this jacket with storm cuffs is intriguing too. I think it would work quite well. The design is super simple and that cuff actually kind of fits the overall aesthetic to a T.
Happy Hunting!

^^ Tony's recommendation would be mine if I were going Custom for certain. For the standard cuff, just look around a bit in this area of the forum. Welcome to FL by the way! :)

I’ve tried searching but ‘aero cuff’ is too generic and floods with irrelevant results.

Did changing the cuff affect the sleeve fit at all? I’m conscious that the button cuff allows the sleeve to maintain a slim profile all the way through so curious if having to change the cuff design meant aero had to alter the sleeves to suit.

I think the best person to answer you about the cut is aero themselves and perhaps if you can spec it in detail they can really fulfill your requirements or suggest other model that closer to your spec

I’m already in talks with Aero regarding it from a construction standpoint (neither affects construction significantly) but I was looking for some user feedback from people who’ve had to live with the choices.

It’s definitely a PHWM that the replacement will be so I’m trying to see what suggestions or tweaks folks have from their own experience with this model. The most common ones being cuff style and the change of the side straps to D-rings.

I like the look of the D rings, but some complain that they don’t hold the straps tight. I really like @ton312’s sleeves, but I would move the zippers to the back for my personal jacket.
Tony, did you modify the body fit of your PHWYMN? It fits differently than most I see.

Agreed, I owned a Board Racer for a short period and moving the sleeve zips to the seam was a no-brainer.

I did modify the body...it has an additional 1" of taper over the stock 44" I think I could've even gone another 1" down in the waist. I don't like using the buckles b/c it disrupts the jackets lines and creates a puffy appearance when they are cinched in.

So since you indicated you are seeking feedback, here is mine:
I like the look of the button - cuff and have these on my 2015 30's Half-Belt. However I wear a backpack into work every day and find that the standard cuff or the zipsleeve cuffs work a lot better with a backpack, the buttons themselves tend to catch in the straps. So if you plan to ever carry a backpack, I would skip on the button-style cuffs.

This is the thought I had and almost wish I had put some thought to it prior to the original order being placed.

Whilst Denny from Aero stated their buttons won’t come off without a fight (and I can believe him), I’m not known for going easy on my outerwear (managed to destroy a pair of Ironheart jeans in 12 months) and luck would have it my work bag would probably snag the cuff when I least expect it and send the respective Corozo button in to orbit.
