Started searching for a leather jacket about six years ago and I "think" I've found my three keepers. Bought more than a half dozen or so but every purchase was a learning experience with regard to fit and material preferences. My wife thinks I lack diversity. She's not entirely wrong.

Note, 2/3 were TFL acquisitions! Thanks guys.
All you need to improve diversity is an Aero CR or BR in Midnight Blue...;)

Yeah Denny recommended an adhesive that I applied and I smacked it with a rubber mallet. Little shoe polish and it’s essentially undetectable. It’s a good thing it’s as thick as it is. Certainly the thickest leather I’ve ever had. But knowing that that’s there...I could never sell it in good conscience. Not for anywhere near what it’s worth, even second hand. I’d throw the irreplaceable tag on it as well. I’ve not seen another hide like it. Maybe Dan T’s HWM. That’s about it.

Hey Ton- What type of adhesive did he recommend? Always like hearing about what material people use for repair work. Agree with Guppy on this, you did a nice job on the repair. How deep was the cut?

The cut wasn’t terribly deep at all. Only about a 1” section that I felt needed to be looked after and in truth the hide is so thick I wonder if it even matters at all. Nevertheless though I did use a flexible clear drying epoxy, meant for leather and plastics ( I’ll have to find the bottle, can’t remember the brand). As it dried I gently tapped it with a rubber mallet and then set some weight on it while it fully cured. Next day I hit it with some brown shoe polish.
I should update with some pics. After a few wears it’s all but disappeared. Takes me a minute to find it!

Nice! Yea it would be good to know what type of epoxy you used. I recently made a belt and after I went through the trouble of punching the holes for stitching I saw a giant slit on the back of the strap that was about half as deep as a 9oz strap. I filled it with a combination of flexible adhesive and a boot glue a bit flexier than super glue. So far my friend says it is holding up well, but I always like trying out other options on scrap so I have more options when it comes to items that need the love.

Cheers!

But the one that stays for certain is this one.

Edit/Add. Easily the best Aero I’ve had in my opinion. The color, the cut. Checks all my boxes. I’d have never guessed it but this premo HWM is an absolute keeper. TBH it has me thinking of a standard cord lined version with a mouton collar and false/ storm cuffs for winter. Then nothing else. Ever.

You really nailed it, hope you keep it lol. That is one gorgeous jacket.

It's hard to even think about another cross zip with this around. Seriously might have ended my Perfecto styled leather jacket quest. Or rather, the one with a longer kidney panel, belt loops and shoulder gussets will end the quest but until then, this will do.

Cals are next level, and this is a next level Cal. You better be buried in this.

Oddly, last night i was trying on jackets to see what few i really want to keep. First and foremost in the crosszip is a Cal. Got it down to two so far and the Langlitz.
