Well ive been looking for a second jacket to add to the original ll columbia i had made a couple years ago. I really wanted something that was already broken in but im a size 50ish so pickins are slim. I knew my columbia was based off a stock size 50. Tonight i stumbled across a size 50 goat columbia on ebay that was bought in the store and is an off the rack size. I figured what the heck, i NEVER see langlitz on ebay in big sizes let alone the size mine is based off of. Its a goat, base columbia. If it fits, ill be sending it to ll to add padding to the elbows and shoulders just because i love that detail.

Congratz. I can't wait to see it. I am in the que and trying to finalize all my details.

What are you getting? I ordered my columbia about 2 years ago and it took about 3 months to actually get it. Its medium cow and its still really stiff. I love it, but i still wonder if i shouldve gotten the goat. I guess ill find out here in a week or so.

I ordered a Columbia in medium cow. I am hoping the medium cow is substantial. Thick, stiff jackets don't scare me. I have had a few Vanson competition weights before. I am hoping the Langlitz medium cow is on par with that. I have heard great things about langlitz goat.

I know I am going with a detatchable mouton collar with thinsulate lining. I am pretty sure I am going with belt loops and a "regular" belt. I think the sam brown belt might be a bit much for me. I am probably going with a snug fit since this will be a true MC jacket. I am still trying to finalize everything. lol. They quoted me a 2 month wait when I put my down payment on it at the end of August.

I hope your jacket fits well. Can't wait to hear your thoughts on the two leathers.

I have a pair of gloves in their goat, its pretty flexible, way more than the cow, not so much as my deer riding gloves. I like the stiffness of the cow but i think the goat will lend itself better to riding since its not as stiff. The cow is just pretty restrictive in motion. Its like wearing armor.

I think you should lead it off with your awesome '85 edition. :)
Ha ha
I don’t wanna start one cause then i’d feel obligated to keep it going and make nicey nice comments instead of being an old caveman curmudgeon!
But yeah, would like to post the 85’ if the weather cools a bit more.

Sweet! More details, history and photos please!!

Not much I can add. I need to verify but recall the label is the one used by LL from the really late 50s to early 80s. White label with only "Portland, Oregon" running across the bottom, no USA. I would put it more towards the early end of the spectrum but not all the way (some point in the 60s), as the main zip is a huge Talon and the leather may be horsehide but I am speculating (as did the previous owner, who could add little else). I recall that the sleeves zips are Talon but now I am thinking maybe Conmatic. Something else to verify tonight. I really like this leather, whatever it ultimately is, as the brown undertone comes out in the typical areas of high wear.

Thank you for that.
What stunning condition.
A wearable piece of history is something to be valued and actually worn.

NP at all. I do wear it from time to time for shorter rides to work.

I sold practically the same, but too large, jacket to Jejupe and committed myself to finding another one in my size. I got lucky a few weeks later and found this on eBay with a BIN just under $400. Not quite AbbaDatDeHat good, but pretty darn good.

Thanks gents, it definitely is a cool jacket. I was right about the tag- used by LL from 58’ or so to 85’ or so. And the sleeve zips are Conmatic, not Talon. Do you guys think it’s probably HH, based on the photos and probable age of the jacket? If any of the other TFL Outerwear Illuminati see the photos, I certainly would appreciate additional takes.

I have a cascade 50’s-60’s as confirmed by Scott at Langlitz.
Send him photos, he is awesome.
During the era of your jacket they did use HH or cowhide and sometimes both on the same jacket!
