3 inch brim, 6 inch open crown with pretty soft and pliant felt, though not as fine as my 100% beaver Excellent Quality New York LE.

I like the bold styling, and bound brim.

Good job, buddy, looks great. You are racking up some nice hats these recent weeks, many in your size! An early Christmas for you!

This 1960s Stetson 3X was stained and in need of some attention, but there was a decent hat hiding there.

A local eBay find at a Thrift store price...and only 10 miles away, no shipping necessary!

Crofut & Knapp straw. (To be honest, I don't know if this is a Milan or Hemp) with a 2 inch brim, 2 1/4 pugg. Seller says 60's model but I don't have enough background on C&K to say one way or the other. Nice even weave and flexible straw, so it should make for a good summer hat. The pugg is not my style and it seems to overpower the short brim, so I'll probably change it during the winter season. This will complement my C&K Panama, also very nice!

Great rescue job, Brent. A more than very decent hat was waiting for you to do your magic. Looks good on you.

Nice find, Randy. I really like that wide pug. Looks like you've found a nice complementary shirt to it, too. If I were you, I'd stick to the pug for a while and see if it grows on you. Personally, I think you suit it and it suits you.
That's just my 2 cents worth.

Thanks Steve. I'll keep the pugg a while and see how it goes. And yes, I like this shirt a lot too. Temps still near 100F here all week, so I have to do something to stay cool.

I know, his website is terrible. He is on Facebook and Instagram. He has some bad reviews because he is hard to get hold of and doesn't return calls.
I called them on the phone and got right through. They are open Tues to Sat. A western weight pure beaver runs $650, knock a hundred off if there's a floor model in you size. Custom runs 3 to 4 months out. I asked about their website and they said it's still under construction. I may stop by his shop later this month while visiting my daughter in Utah. Would love seeing his shop.

He’s not the only hatter like that. I sent several emails and left a message at Buckaroo Hatters but they never replied. I’m not going to beg someone to take my money. Maybe these folks have all the business they can handle and don’t mind if they piss off potential customers?

Hi
if it was VERY recently, Mike was out of town. He does answer emails, which is how I got 6 hats from him. He's also very busy. He'll (and the rest of the hatters) be even busier in late October for Xmas.

None of the hats in the videos are really my style,. I thought the videos & new colors were interesting & decided to share the videos with the group.

Dave

And i thought it was just me with the hat noise thing.
I try never to wear a hat that makes more noise when you set it down then i do!

It only took 21 days but this one finely made it. Dusty and dirty but no real issues. Vacuumed, steamed, sponged and brushed it opened up to a 6" crown with a 3" brim. Simple 3 cord ribbon with short tailing ends. I tried to show the brim edge where, to me, this brim was trimmed with scissors and not one of @humanshoes rounding jacks. Every couple of inches there is a slight scallop to the edge. I thought I was seeing things while I was ironing it out but I called on the kid for assistance and she agreed it was wavy gravy. Makes me like it even more . Slight evidence left of a cellophane tip protector with the wine colored liner. No price visible on the small white sales tag but the printed words "ceiling price" are visible at the top of it. Now to shape it. More info in the Rolnick thread.

A beautiful survivor BB! And a 5X. Has to be rare. I love that liner even without the protector. I think there have been other hats on the FL from the White House, Tucson. I'm envious of such a hat!
