It is a great thread, how did I miss it? A wonderful story. I remember our first trip to the US, we were meeting up with someone that I had known in an earlier life, enjoying a meal in a family run restaurant and getting a lesson on the US coinage. My missus held a coin up, those who had heard our English accents all seemed to be eaves dropping, even the waiter was hovering. As Tina studied the coin she read aloud: "In God We Trust" to which I said, "but everyone else pays cash." It didn't get the laugh that I expected, our friend explained that it's an old joke. "Trust him to put his foot in it," said Tina. Now that got a laugh.
