Taupe colored Beaver Brand OR clone for a few minutes this morning to feed livestock. No name on it but it was sold at the Westerner in Flagstaff so maybe I'll just call it the Westerner!

I have a recently acquired Beaver Brand OR clone like that. Almost an identical color. The box calls it Adobe. Mine came originally from The Western Shoppe in Smith's Grove, KY, according to the stamp in the sweat. It's not "white fur" just "imported fur".

I was under the impression it wasn't that old of a hat, but just now I was looking under the sweat and found a price tag for $25.95. It's no top of the line lid, but I imagine it's been a few years since any fur felt hat could be had for that cheap.

Nice snag, Cuz. What a great color. I couldn't put a date on it for anything. But I would think that at that price point with such a nice sweat with a big vapor barrier, its got a few years on it.

Thanks Cuz. I had read that Langenberg had officially changed the name of the company to Beaver Brand in 2000, but this hat is certainly older than that, so I guess they'd been producing them with that name for much longer. Couldn't find any info on how long.

Inflation adjusted dollars, but I didn't come to the Lounge to advocate ending the Fed and returning to the gold standard

Nice!! Great crease on that one. I can't believe it's sweater weather in TX yet. Summertime is still full throttle down here.

My porch thermometer was at 67 this morning. :) It will rise quickly, but for a brief time I get to wear some sweaters. Trying to rush the colder weather to get here. Yeah, I could get by without it, but added a nice accent to the Tatton.

I've been pulling out my westerns over the last 3 weeks or so and for the most part, I've changed the profile on nearly every one as I steamed and refreshed them for cooler weather, if it ever gets here. Still have a few to go and I'll post them as I go along.

This No. 1 Quality may have seen the most radical change. It's my only 4 dent that I converted from a rancher's crease. I enjoyed it as it was but after HJ posted his Worth-Walden recently, I had to change this one. I told Jack I plagiarized his hat, and I did my best. I lowered the front and raised the rear to the crown's limits. 4 in the front and 5 1/2 in the rear. I did a 1/4' curl on the brim with a slight draw to the front.

My dad bought a Beaver Brand back in the 80’s. It was a great hat, too. Kind of a heritage fawn color with darker shaded sections for a camo look. Brown leather hatband. Rather thin felt with just the right amount of flop and stiffness. I swiped it from him when I was in college for a summer working at a camp, since he wasn’t using it anymore. Had it several years and then it disappeared. Not sure what happened to it. I think it may have burned up in a friend’s housefire... I had a box or two of my stuff still at his house after I moved, then a bad winter came, his generator caught on fire. His elderly father died from smoke inhalation. It was terrible.

Sorry for the Debbie Downer story. It was a very fine and high quality hat, leagues(!!!!) better than the Beaver Brand of recent years.
