Hello FedoraLounge Community!

It seems like a quite a few members here are struggling or have even given up posting pictures on the Fedoralounge. Some even pay to post pictures. I was a VBulletin Forum member since 2012 on another forum faraway that you cannot imagine, so I would like to share my knowledge step-by-step.

(Methods may vary but this is how I do it)

Step 1: Go to imgur.com
KsYUNMH.png

Step 2: Click 'New post' button next to the imgur logo.

Step 3: You should have this page now.

Step 4: Drag/Upload image.

Step 5: You should have something like this.

Step 6: Open the image in a new tab.

Step 7: Copy URL address.

Step 8: Click this logo.

Step 9: Paste URL

Step 10: Press insert button & Voila! ENJOY!

I hope I helped :).

~Have a good day, Bertie!

Thank you for doing this. It isn't difficult, it's just different than it used to be.

(We used to be a vBulletin forum, but aren't now)

Does anybody have issues with the posted image being turned on its side once on the FL page?

Some are right way up and some flip over on their side.
It depends on the device and what orientation it is in when the original photo is taken. I do not have an iPhone but I think they do not play well with windows machines as far as photos go. I think I have been told that if you take an iPhone picture with the device on its side make sure the volume button is down. I would guess YMMV and experimentation would be the best way to get it sorted out.

"if you take an iPhone picture with the device on its side make sure the volume button is down."

????????

Makes no sense. If you are taking a picture with an iPhone, using the down volume button will trip the shutter. And would have no effect or picture orientation.

In any case, all of the above advice is out of date. Upload pictures directly.

Orientation of the device. Volume button down, not hold the volume button down.
But as I said, I'm not an iPhone user.

I have an iPhone 7 and have never been able to "point and shoot" and post the picture. It's always had to be taken in selfie mode. Now that won't post either, any ideas why?

Does anyone know if you can INSERT a photo as opposed to posting a link of the photo?..is there another option other than having your image appear as a link that someone has to then click to view image? Yes ive tried the "insert" button but it does everything BUT take me to my drive to select an image...am I missing something here ?

strike that..i now see how it works, basically there is no instant insertion, you first have to upload an image into an "album" that is kept in your account I presume, which will then allow you to inser images from..
Not sure why this long process instead of the usual "instant insertion capability"..

If you're using a laptop it's pretty easy to just insert an image in your post without using an album or other image placement thingamabob............I know absolutly zilch about smartphones.

I've had that happen and what I've found - at least on a Mac - is that if I reduce the size of the pic before posting, it usually doesn't flip anymore. To do that:
  • Bring up the pic on the computer
  • Click "tools" on top tool bar
  • Then, on the dropdown menu, click "adjust size"
  • Then, I usually just reduce the width or height by about a quarter (so if it's 40, I'll bring it to 30 or if it's 12 I'll take it down to 9) and that normally works (play around a bit and you'll see what works for you)
Then, I just drag and drop the "smaller sized" image and it doesn't flip anymore.

Good luck, hope this helps.

actually I am now back to zero...a very strange thing. When I am replying to a personal messege the UPLOAD FILE button is missing, but now on this very thread I see there is an UPLOAD FILE button, why this discrepancy ??

As I finally found out, it is much simpler to post images by dragging the image from your computer file folder onto the message itself than by loading it onto a third party hosting site and then typing in the URL.
