I've had a black Stylemaster with white lining since early 2006, and i'm pretty sure that i've never seen one with red lining.

It looks fabulous :)

My Adventurer (ver. 1) from Outback Outlet in Pa. came with a red liner. Of four Akubra's...it's the only red one...the others are white. I'd love to see a gold one...:eusa_clap

The sky grey is (was:( ) a really nice light grey. I did try a wider ribbon on an old navy Stylemaster I had, I think it was 2 inches (I'll have to measure it) but it's always looked too wide to me.

Hey Benny - I'm mulling a navy blue Stylemaster. Do you still have yours? Any pics or could you describe the felt and ribbon color? I'd love to hear what it looks like. Thanks, Carl

I have a navy blue Stylemaster on order from EA (it's three weeks late already and has yet to ship). I'll post pics when I finally receive it.

Sounds good - I look forward to the pics. The acorn fawn Stylemeaster in this thread is looking good to me also.

Looking good

Gilgamark, that hat is looking really good on you, the proportions are very good. The mid-gray looks downright blue on my screen, but maybe that's just the lighting. How does the felt feel?

No, that's not just the lighting. It's a blue grey, although the color seems to move easily between a blue grey and a black grey, depending on lighting and other colors around it. It's a good color.

The felt is great. Smooth and sturdy. Good quality. I would have no worries wearing this in a rain storm, not that I want to any time soon. I gave just under $70 with shipping. I think this hat was well worth it.

Gilgamark,
I have the same hat and wore it out in a light rain yesterday and it's fine. A few days before that it was covered with snow. The hat seems to be tough enough to take it. I'm considering buying another one in a different color.

I am also considering this hat in other colors. Moonstone would definitely fill a gap in my assortment, and the acorn fawn looks like a great color, too.

I like the proportions and shape of the Stylemaster.

Hey Carldelo, sorry for the delay in responding, I've been away on holidays with the family up north (at last!). Anyway, I really found the navy blue to be too dark; it simply look black in anything but the brightest sunlight. I tried to post some pics but for some reason I'm having trouble with photobucket at the moment and my photos aren't coming across. I'll keep trying.

No worries on the time delay - thanks for replying. It sounds like the hat is acting as a black (blue?) hole, sucking up all available light and interfering with photography. Or something. Too bad about it being so dark - I guess the ribbons are very dark blue as well.

I have been thinking (in the last hour at least) that I may opt for a Stylemaster in acorn fawn, but try a Christy's Marlborough in Navy. It's about the same size and shape as a Stylemaster, with a slightly narrower ribbon and a looser looking bash. Can't tell from the swatches how the two shades of navy might compare. I think it would be interesting to have both hats and do a comparison of the felt, bash, fit, etc. I may change my mind by tomorrow however, we'll see.

Update

Well I finally made up my mind. I just ordered a Stylemaster in acorn and a Capricorn poly straw in gray from EA, and separately ordered a Christy's Marlborough from Hornetshats. Hornets said their navy color is distinctly blue, which is what I'm looking for. I hate to wait 3 months for the Akubras, but c'est la vie.

For those with an interest in medium crown and brim hats like the Stylemaster, on another thread xigxag has posted large photos directly comparing the SM with the Christy's. It's the same overall size, but has a softer shape (and felt too, he says) and looks to be quite nice. The bash reminds me more of a formal or businessman's hat, as opposed to the distinct teardrop of the SM. Anyway, they're nice pictures and worth perusing if you're currently in the market. The comparison photos are on page 2 of the thread:

I bought it from Australiadirect.com. I don't know if they actually have a Moonstone in stock but you may order one from them.
http://aussiedirect.stores.yahoo.net/akhast1.html

Other online vendors also sell the Moonstone but there is a 10-12 week wait:

Prices vary widely for both the Stylemaster and for shipping from Australia.
I have purchased TOO many Akubras from Hats By The 100. Every time I watch one of their videos I want another one. I have two Stylemasters in Acorn Fawn and Mink. Great hats!

I've been looking at Akubras for a long time. I really need to pull the trigger on a Stylemaster. Thanks for sharing. Do they run true to size or do I need to go up a size to allow for a little shrink?

I've got 2 Stylemaster hats. Acorn Fawn and the carbon grey. I'm saving my money for a Moonstone.

I of was fortunate that could try mine at Delmonico hatter. I'm in between 58 & 59 in sizing. Both of the hat's are size 58. But the Carbon Grey fits a little bit looser than the Acorn Fawn.

I haven't experienced the shrinkage that others have reported. Hats direct says to go up a little bit in size to allow for any shrinking

I think Hats by the 100 has Moonstone.
