That’s a great hat Ken.
Are you dead set on a telescope??
If not see the post before you.
Nutria can’t go wrong no matter what.

After seeing my photos with the telescope, I'm not a big fan of this flat crease. At least not with my head shape. Time to experiment. Hopefully I wont have too many shadow creases to deal with in the felt, its probably been this way for decades. ;)

Jeff, I thought maybe you were playing a harmonica so I played with the exposure a bit to see. Ended up trying to make it an old time look. I like the appearance of peeling wallpaper & woodgrain on the door in the background & the spider cracking across the front. You need a bottle of Old Crow & a glass on that table. Hope the tones come across on your monitor.

I wish I could play the harmonica, moreover I wish I had a bottle of old Crow with or without the glass! Your edits look great!

Okay......must have ghosts in my house. I wetted and steamed then popped the Nutria Stetsonout of the telescope and into open crown. Not too many shadows, great! Then steamed it some more and creased a teardrop into it and let it sit on the block overnight.......this morning it was back in telescope, albeit just a hair wider telescope but WTF!!!:confused::mad:

Funny!
It’s the Nutria. My brown one invented the rowboat crease. I gave up. Lol

The hat has spoken. I like it that way though...

3x6 7x is quickly growing on me. I was immediately intimidated with this proper western lid, but after I fixed the crease and flattened the brim a touch, it’s starting to feel right.

Still wavy with the brim but I’ll be working with it a little more.

Looks great Ross. I actually like the brim a bit wavy, lends well to the nice old hat that it is. It's funny how fast the higher crowns and wider brims start to feel not only right but necessary. 3 x 6 is where it's at!
