That is a hell of great looking hat. I like the blue ribbon, and the block is great. Very Classy. And you really do look like Robert Duval's consigliere.:D character.

Finos

Thats a good point you make Scotrace about too fine Finos.

I have one and after a rainstorm the whole thing collapsed and will have to be reblocked. As well they don't hold up to even a strong breeze on the beach and I ended up going back to a run of the mill Hawaiian Hat Panama for AUD120 that works a treat.

Looking good Scot. Looks like you have a little reverce taper going on there!:eusa_clap
What about the brim, is it turned down all the way around? It kinda looks that way from the photo. I have the brim on my soft white panama from Miller Brothers turned down that way. It just seems to look better, to me, that way.

You seem to have the same problem with the hat as I have with a panama, too, namely that the opening for the head isn't oval enough, and so the brim gets wavy.

If I may ask, did the blocker try to put that in order, or did you just not mind, or even like it that way?

This Panama is made to precisely my own head shape after being fitted with a conformer gadget.

Art did everything possible to stretch this hat out to its maximum oval, using the longest oval flange available. As I have learned from numerous hats that didn't work, my head is very hard to fit right.
The only solution is for Art to make up a custom flange just for me - and we'll probably get that done at some point. Or perhaps go a size up, no matter what the tape and conformer say.
I leave all such decisions in Art's capable hands.
