Modern Franken Whippet gets out of the box finally for the season. This is about my favorite hat. Brim will do anything you want it to. Must be royal deluxe or premier quality felt (found it at the outlet). Goes well with most all casual wear. I need a grey one someday. Stetson should really offer their hats with different ribbons or hat bands as a regular deal. An old cabela's barn coat (they should make these again.)

One of the coldest mornings we have had here in Oregon so far. Arctic blast coming from Alaska. My PT appointment for my broken hand is first thing this morning. I will be wearing my black overcoat for the first time this season. The nearest hat that comes to hand is my Wilson homburg in a beautiful heather finish. No time for a current photo, I'll have to get back into the habbit!

I'm catching up in this thread. Hope the hand is doing better. A black overcoat combined with that homburg is a guarantee they'll take you seriously.

New to me Royal Stetson. I picked this up on eBay about a month ago, and have worked to address the staining on this well-worn, light colored hat. Thanks to a vinegar solution and a toothbrush, much of the staining has been mitigated. It's had a naphtha bath, but I'm still working on trying to get so5 ribbon stains out.

The pleated ribbon is a nice touch, and the felt is excellent. Soft and very malleable.

Cool brim stitching, too.

Somewhat flashy, but very cool finishing, Jim. I like it. Wish I had your patience (and skill) in cleaning.

The Baldini was the choice of hat for a trip to Copenhagen today. My students were very complimentary, and not one of them mentioned Inspector Gadget [emoji4]

Not to your face anyway;) Naaah, the outfit doesn't have that vibe, Steve. Very nice. Like the tie also; perfect dimple.

Doing a Belgian waffle on this one... seller thought 1930s, I thought 1950s - European hats are often tough to pin down - pre-war and post war production values can be similar. But the only reference I can find to the importer David L. Cohn in Cleveland, Ohio is from a 1916 reference. So maybe...
Note the size correlation is between English and French sizes, not U.S.

Incredible that a light coloured hat makes it through the decades looking that pristine. Amazing, Alan.

WISKO "Rossach Kosmos 1" possibly late 1930s early 1940s. I am fairly certain WISKO was Wilhelm Ispert Köln. They were a whole seller / importer that are still in business today but not with hats. My guess (based on paper labels) is they were the distributor of many of these mystery WWII era German Wool hats but not sure who was their source (or sources). Unfortunately my sweat caused problems with the liner and sweatband logos. This oxidation issues is common with similar lower price point German (also from Czechoslovakia) made hats from this time period. I am guessing the gold dyes were copper based. Does that make sense?

A hat you needed for its name alone, Steve. And all things considered it still looks like a fine hat to me.

Today....continuing with the Gorasgu Borsalino’s. A “Silchi” long hair with not so much sparkle yet still difficult to capture the luster and texture of the Avorio color. The pics are in several different lights.
I believe Silchi might refer to a silk content which presents a bit softer and fuzzier than the Angora of yesterday.
Or maybe i just need to brush better. Lol
I don’t think this one has been here before but i’m wearin it so you’re bearin it. Ha
Be well. Bowen
Ps: of note..it seems a trait of Gorasgu’s to be non-reeded yet different felts and brim treatments.
It's a model exclusive to the American market and indeed comes in various forms. Another splendid example right there, Bowen.

Not a very good picture of my Bradford thin ribbon conversion...it was originally an earlier 1960s red liner Western that I converted to this thin ribbon. I redid the brim the other day on a copy of a Strat flange that was made for me by 'Hatters Supply House of Colorado'...

This is closer to the hat's true color

...and, my Royal Stetson OR refurb that was done on the same flange as the Bradford. The brim on this OR is a bit more narrow than the Bradford...

Some Hank Williams

From 'The Last Picture Show'...excellent movie with a great cast

Outstanding work as usual, Terry. I'd say the flange is a success!
