WWII Era Jacket -Any Info?

Hello,
I was directed to this site when doing research to find more info on this jacket that was given to my father. I am starting from square one...I have no info other than the jacket itself. Any thoughts or advice on where to get more info would be very helpful. Here are some photos:

Any pictures of tags or labels? Usually under the collar or sometimes if there are interior pockets they would be on the pocket. Also may be tags/labels built into the seams on the inside.

Hi there,
Thats quite a piece of history. Looks like an Aero to me.
You may have better luck finding more info here - https://www.vintageleatherjackets.org
These guys are more focused on WW2 flight jackets than civilian jackets.

The jacket chest patch is reminiscent of a vintage Civil Air Patrol patch.
Shoulder insignia is that of a Major.
Jacket itself appears to be genuine vintage World War 2.
I’m sure others can be more specific.
Cool jacket!

Pretty cool. Is it cotton lined? Wool cuffs and waistband?
It's really are to find any of these outside a museum in "wearable" shape anymore especially with the hand-painted graphics.

Yes, I believe they are wool and there is a liner. Here are some more photos.

Too bad the name tag was removed. You might have been able to track down information about the original owner. Good luck with your search!

That jacket was placed in service between 1942 and pre—1947. The patch changed when the Army Air Corps became the Air Force.

The jacket appears to be desperate for a couple of coats of Pecard Leather Dressing, or other quality conditioner of choice. Too late for the collar, but the rest of the jacket appears to be free of cracks in the leather.

A nice find you have there.

I wouldn't Touch the leather on that Jacket with anything, oil, pecards or anything...not one drop until you have it appraised as-is..Just IMHO.
