For A-2s... Bill Kelso's Liberty Horsehide.
Platon's Italian horse (don't think its Vicenza) is nice also. My seal Dubow to all appearances incl weight, feel etc is almost identical to a seal WW2 Aero original A-2 I once owned.
Eastman's hide can be great, depending on the batch. It varies. Sometimes it appears a bit over-done to me.

I didn’t know Shinki offered deerskin. I thought they only tanned horsehide.

Right now my fave is Vicenza horse though I must admit I've an Orvis jacket in some light tanned leather that's my have jacket at the moment. But that'll change on Monday when the temps dip down into the 20's.

My vote goes (CXL) to Johnson's overdye. That was the most pleasing of all leathers I've handled. Smelled a tiny bit better than the Aero stuff, if you can fathom that!

My favourite leather at the moment is missing from the list.
Aero battered steer hide, soft and the distressed leather look is subtle.
Soft and drapes well, similar in weight and softness to Horween Vermont horse hide.
As I have gotten older [55] I prefer softer, more lighter weight, comfortable jackets now and the weather where you live and the jacket style is a factor.
Living in a very hot part of Australia now heavy weight jackets are not practicable for me, if I was still In London I would still be wearing heavyweight horse.

Number one is Langlitz cowhide chrome tanned. My over 50 year old Langlitz was given a drink over the years and that leather is amazingly resilient and robust. Stunning leather really. I have no idea how the current modern leather from Langlitz will look in 50 years.

My favourite leather is usually the one i am currently wearing!
