what do you use the "ticket pocket" (zippo pocket) for on your m/c jacket?

I remember when phones were small enough to fit into these small pockets. Then they got too big. Apparently, smoking is going out of fashion, and I don't smoke anyway, so no zippo for me. So what do you use it for? I'm divided on whether a D pocket just looks better without the zippo pocket.

I use it for receipts, and take them out when I get home. It stays empty otherwise. I like it because it completes the style.

I'd be lucky if my bunch of keys can fit in my back pocket, let alone a ticket pocket! (both my own and my mother's are on the bunch)

Ear plugs. My bike is a little on the loud side and ear plugs make it more comfortable sound and wind wise.

I'd sometimes put a belt buckle inside. Otherwise, it depends but usually, a bus / train ticket or something similar that I don't feel like digging for. Definitely not coins though. Wouldn't be able to ever fish them out...

But yeah, it's a relatively useless pocket.

I know what Jmax thinks I use the "zippo" pocket for. lol.

I actually use mine all the time. I actually keep a pack of dental floss in there. It fits perfectly. I go to a lot of biker parties and the food is always the greatest. I hate having food stuck in my teeth so the dental floss always comes in handy.

I also think the pocket completes the look. I kinda think the jacket looks odd without it. Just my opinion.

Yeah buddy lol. I use it for lighters and cigar cutter/punch. When I used to smoke cigarettes, they went in there too.

I like the D with or without the coin pocket. I do like the coin pocket to be patched on or the stitching making up the pocket to be visible, I just prefer that look. Particularly on a perfecto-style jacket.

I keep my Vanson Zippo. The lighter fluid drys up after few months. I keep it in memory of my brother. He was always quickest on the draw, back in the day, to light a lady's cigarette. RIP

Your brother must have had plenty of charm (and flame) for the ladies.

Car key for me. iPhone 5 would fit in the Vanson but then they got huge. When I was in college I used to throw my woody dicot in there.

Don't think I ever used it. Even if I take the pipe out with me, I don't tend to put the lighter in there. Don't think I've ever really had a use for that pocket - maybe the odd ring if I'm wearing a big one gloves won't go over, or a gig ticket or something. Treid coins once... never again. Too fiddly.

I also think the pocket completes the look. I kinda think the jacket looks odd without it. Just my opinion.

I think of it as akin to the watch pocket in a pair of jeans - it's functional purpose is long since gone, but it has now become as much part of the look as any functional aspect of the jacket design. That said, I still want an Aero Elvis...

The pocket just looks cool. A historical nod to a looser time where people understood that a little vice acted as a much-needed release from the stressors of daily life. I no longer smoke but I very much believe that in moderation, vice is healthy. The conundrum is that smoke really messes up our jackets. So coffee? Artisanal tea?
