German & Austrian Hutmachers

Rehfus & Cie. "Zephyr" "Extra Extra Qualität", French Point 5 1/2. The condition is excellent so probably seldom worn. It came with an original shop Hat Case and Hat Brush. I am thinking post WWII but still uses Rehfus & Cie. and the 1950s Soft Felts used Rehfus Hutfabrikaten. Also the factory was heavily damaged + looted after WWII and didn't go back into production until 1951.

Mixed feelings about this one. Sold to me as a size 59. It isn't (well, if you measure round the outside of the crown it is). More like a size 55 and I would have to stretch it to fit me. Don't really want to do that, because the sweatband already shows a gap. But then again it's a Hückel Prima velour hat. Pre-war and judging by it's styling quite early. No label under the sweat to go by. Overwelt edge at 5,5cm and crown 10,5cm at the center dent. This is a thick and heavy velour hat and I would have loved it to be a size 59, but what can you do?

A beauty of a Hückel, Stefan. Shame about the misinformation re the size.

Thanks, Steve. I specifically asked this seller to look for a label and he could not find one, so I took a chance. The box actually came gift-wrapped! Didn't pay the world for it, but it would have been nice to make someone happy with a size 59 velour.

Stefan, Super find! Sorry about the size. JHS started using such quality distinctions in the early 1920s up to WWII.

Mayser "Spezial", 61 cm, possibly early 1950s. The dark blue felt is fantastic (color, finish) and easily dry creases. As usual great dressing work (ribbon/bow, sweatband, liner) It's also in NOS condition so probably rarely if ever worn.

Yet another example of Mayser at their best. Great find, Steve.
